I've never been handcuffed in my life.

never had been handcuffed
but yea im still nice to them
my sister neighbor is a cop actually he just got promoted to sherif
known him sense he was little even if i didnt know him i would still be polite to a cop no matter what

only if the handcuffs are the pink, fuzzy kind

I've been able to talk my way out of a few instances that might have ended up that way, probably because I am a girl

usually polite although that would probably change if i was being handcuffed

The one and only time I was cuffed I managed to get my hands in front of me in the the back of the cruiser. The bacon boys in the car freaked out bad. I think they knew I could have done bad things to them in transport since the car had no barrier in it. If I could have slipped the cuffs I would have too.

I love giving their complacent ***** a wake up call now and then. Some cops think they are so much better than the rest of us...

I guess the power they have get to their head too. That's why they have to suffer "sensitivity training."

Other than those I've met in social situations, I've only encountered police officers when they've pulled me over for a traffic violation. I was not only polite, but apologetic both times. The officers apparently saw no need for cuffs...or tickets. Whew...

Having been an officer at one time, I would have to say "Yes"!

There is something to be said about the lip some officers have. It is one thing when they are busting someone for committing a felony and ran from them and then shot at them while fleeing versus someone who made a bad mistake and need to get a time out. It goes both ways. I hate it when anyone looks down their nose at me. One day it may be someone like me who made a mistake once in their life the cops need to save them. Now what if that person was treated like shipt by cops? Think that person will lift a finger to do anything for the benefit of cops to save their azz in a hot situation? More than likely I would be inclined to grab a camcorder and film it and send the film to the media for public acclaim instead of wasting any minuets calling 911. People can hold grudges. There is a difference between having to do your time out versus being bullied in the process.

I can understand it is a tough job but there is a difference when an officer acts professionally and one who "lives for his job." Paladins suck. Courtesy is given where courtesy is extended. I will not live in fear of police officers. I should have NO NEED TO FEAR THEM. Wouldn't you think having been a former officer that if people needed to fear them that said situation would be right? I sure hope not!

I always try to be courteous to officers. It might be cause of that song with the lines of, "I fought the law and the law won."

You know there is something to this thread that just came to my mind. Personally I just keep my mouth shut. People try to be so over the top polite in the hopes the cops will have pity on them. That is just a sucker play and they know it. If they are out to arrest you there is no negotiations. That is how it is. My question is how should an officer conduct themselves during an arrest? Some of the police in LA are utter douche bags! The police in Redondo beach are surprisingly professional. Hawthorne PD has cleaned their act up a lot! Lawndale Sheriff has done a lot to straighten out their act as well but Long beach and Lomita Sheriff be scared of. Those two cities the cops are down right scary! They have been known to arrest people out of the blue because they pissed the officer off and BOTH cities have officers who have been accused of violent racial abuse.

Perhaps the courtesy should have come "before" the handcuffs.......

No...of course I'm not courteous to them regardless. Almost all the cops I've come across deserve no respect.

Police Officers our what they are....

I don't fear them, and have been in several situations through life
that have had me being questioned by one or ticketed by one..

GRANTED, like ANY JOB,,,some can let their job go to their heads.

But MOST of them carry a calm attitude, and treat ME with RESPECT.

AS I treat THEM with that same RESPECT.

My SON is a Police Officer, one of the reasons he IS THAT,
is because he grew-up knowing some through me, and believed
them to be good people who protected the weak, and arrested
bad guys...lol..
I had the Honor a while back to ride with him for a day.
I witnessed his actions, and the ones he stopped for speeding.
HE could have arrested two of them and took them to jail.
He DIDN'T, and let them by with only tickets issued to them..
They ALL,,seemed pleased with his actions,,even though they got sited

NOW as to ACTING NICE,,if being hand-cuffed,,,

Let me tell you this for damn sure,,,my son just took a week long course on tactics for JUST THAT,,,and he showed me some of the actions he CAN take,,if while being cuffed,,SOMEONE wants to TRY and
PREVENT that from happening...
YOU COULD BE INJURED,,,,AND IN GREAT PAIN,,
If someone is being handcuffed,,their being arrested..
NOW,,if thats because of a warrant, or because of an assult?
THE OFFICER IS TRAINED TO TAKE YOU DOWN,,,IF YOU RESIST!

I feel my son is a good cop,,and with the talent to use his power to be fare to the ones who he see's as innocent victims in life,
yet also able to see and know the bad dudes as well..
HE RISKS HIS LIFE DOING THIS EVERYDAY,,,,,FOR YOU AND ME AND HIS COMMUNITY,,,HE IS VERY PROUD OF HIS POSITION AND ALL THAT JUSTICE
STANDS FOR ""MEANS"" EVERYTHING TO HIM...
