Topic: If you let go of the past | |
---|---|
It's easy to use the past as an excuse and I will admit to having done so. Somethings do take a little time to get over but holding on to them for too long doesn't help in the cause for moving on. very wise |

Time sometimes wounds all heels, when it should be healing all wounds. The past is part of me, but it is not all of me.

I try not to live in the past (don't think I live there) but I won't forget the past either. I don't want history to repeat itself if it is bad. If it is good, then more power to me

Sometimes it just sticks to the bottom of your shoe .....and you never notice it.
Then one day, you throw the shoes away. You may no longer own the same pair of shoes, but the gum is still there. |

We are all a result of our pasts, nothing wrong with thinking about it, as newark said, reflecting... we learn from past choices and move on. I think it becomes a problem when were depressed and saddened by it, hanging on and afraid to move forward. Having good memories that make us smile when we think about them, that's a beautiful thing.
We could all learn to live in the moment more. My past has made me who I am..the good the bad and the ugly, and I like who I am. |

What's sad is when people are stuck in the past and can not move forward and progress. Like a 40 year-old who still drinks and parties like they are 21.
I don't think it's bad to reflect on the negative as well as the positive in life as long as we learn, progress, and move forward and do not get stuck in the past. |

Sometimes the past wont let you let it go ............. Some things follow you everywhere and for always........ Soemtimes you have no choice in the matter........ Wether you like it or not....... Itll always be there...... Sitting in its darkness......awaiting the light to dim. Though it never will. Thank you. u r welcome |

I went back to my past today. Literally. Was nervous, was almost scared of what it might bring up that might not have healed. I saw things but didn't see them any more. Such a releif to know it is now on the shelf, not to be taken down ever again. It was a love, still is, but a different sort now. No more heartache. Only peace, calm and lessons learned. I can move forward, have grown, the gum eventually does wear off and finally one day you look and it's all been rubbed away. The only thing remaining is the stain of the oil from where it was, even that has faded from all the walking.

The past is just a reminder that a) the whole world is in your head or b) that you can't control the whole world.

....I am the sum total of my entire past...every milisecond contributes to this ME I am now.... I don't dwell there....I simply respect there. Well said. Asfar as exes, once I've worked through the issues, they're pictures go into a bonfire. |

Sometimes the past can shatter the future, but the present can create and even better future.

I think of the past as..bookmarks in my book of life.
I can find them easily, they stick out. Because I know where each tragedy is, I can flip to it in an instant. Those pages are dog-eared. But if I check them too often, I won't be able to get through the book. Like any good tome, the interest lies in reading the current. To flip each page daily to see what will happen in the end. Suspense trumps what I already know :-) |

The past is part of who we are. We learn from it and learn to move one. Take time to see what it was and what we don't want to repeat but never dwell within the past. You can not change what happen in the past instead we must learn from it and move on.
Too many tend to let the past pave the road ahead. One can not always think what another did in the past or what happen will always be the same within the future. If you look only for the negative you will only get the negative. You have to believe the future will bring you new beginnings. |
