yeah yeah yeah, can you picture me just blindly following anyone - hell not even when lost do I do that

From the urban dictionary a lemming is a member of a crowd with no originality or voice of his own. One who speaks or repeats only what he has been told

Do you follow the crowd and believe everything you hear or do you go against the grain (when needed) and need to see things for yourself?

What do you suppose makes people just follow blindly?

The general consensus or popular opinion never actually effect my personal opinion. Whether I happen to agree or disagree makes no difference to me. I will not dislike something just because everyone else does like it, just to be different or say I'm NOT a lemming. IMO that's just as bad as going with the grain just because it's easier.

but that's what lemming is - From the urban dictionary a lemming is a member of a crowd with no originality or voice of his own. One who speaks or repeats only what he has been told.

my interpretation someone who does as he is told without thinking for themselves.

ie, - crowd yelling "fight" "fight" without a clue who is involved, why he/she is yelling it, just to fit in. Not using their own common sense nor decision as to whether to partake or not.

YR - gotta find you some books, I leave for a bit and you turn to the dictionary (urban dictionary) nonetheless for comfort laugh

I would not know the answer since I tend to follow the voices in my head.

laugh I just liked that definition is all.

I don't believe everything said. I research things or I have to see or hear it myself to believe it. Otherwise, I just think it's one person interpretation over another. I even do this with my own family and friends. It doesn't mean someone is lying, just could be their interpretation of the events....or lying lol.

I have been burned in the past (when I was young) by believing someone as if it were the gospel....I learned the hard way

Eh, I don't really care what people think of me and at 42 I'm certainly comfortable enough with myself and my life that I don't need to follow the crowd to feel good about myself.

I judge people on their interactions with me and what I see first hand. Same thing with life in general. My experience is all that counts and all that really matters when it comes to making decisions for myself. I believe that's true for everyone.

Wow.
I kid you not - I was just about to post that picture.

But just look at him. He's so cute.

I wouldn't want to be a lemming... but I'd want a lemming. I'd give him one of those spinny wheels.

The issue's really what constitutes as blind following. Some stuff is worth trying... if only to see how awful it is.

I don't think it's blind following to try something to see what it's all about. I think it's blind following to do something only because someone tells you and you don't have an open mind about that it might not be right or wrong

Yeah, I like the picture too. I'm gonna steal it and send it to my address book. But you can't be serious about trying something 'if only to see how awful it is' ... ? If you're serious, I can hook you up with some hi-class cyanide ... guaranteed to work first time, every time. Oh. You've changed your mind about that one ... ? Gee ... you coulda had such fun deciding if it was 'awful' or not, too ...

KK... I think common sense would apply to many things. I don't think plastic was talking about something that drastic

Yeah... I was thinking something more along the lines of long distance running...

Hehe. Do you really have a hook-up for "hi-class cyanide"? That's impressive.
