Topic: Fly problem??? | |
---|---|
Just wondering if anyone has heard or tried this for problems with flies?
Many people swear that a zip-lock bag filled half-way with water and attached over entry-ways will repel flies. Question: How would a zip lock bag filled with water and pennies in it prevent flies? |

We have them around here at outdoor places to repel mosquitoes.
I have no idea whether they work or not. |

Interesting! If it works, that would be cool and cheap!

if there's one thing I hate are flies ESP in my house. You don't know!!! I walk around with a can of RAID for flying insects 24/7 in the summer the only reason I wouldn't do the zip-loc thing is it would look tacky in the house one time I bought those yellow sticky hanging long things I thought they repelled the flies- had no idea they stuck to them hung one in the kitchen one night woke up. Nice and hungry. Gonna make breakfast... To see that thing hanging with dead flies in my kitchen.... I couldn't eat all day!! |

Won't a bug-zapper (like the ones y' put in the backyard for mosquitos when y' cook outside) work just as well or better ... ? I dunno what a bag of water with loose change in it is gonna do ... besides, the flies can't even buy penny candy anymore with just one penny ...

One theory is that sunlight (which is why they are used outdoors) is refracted and confuses insects with compound eyes, so they fly away.
Another theory is that they don't work. |

I suggest getting a BB gun.... sit on a chair and practice shooting flies out of the air... Once you get really good, get a Pellet gun, then move on to a 22 by the time you run out of flies, you'll be up to a 50 cal and on some tv show somewhere.

I saw these hanging on a patio/deck yesterday and had to ask why they were there because I'd never seen them before! Wish I'd have known to try this out years ago.

Hmmmmmmmm. Perhaps a water bag hat would keep the bugs away?

Yeah, something about the fly seeing its distorted reflection in the waterbag, it gets scaired and flies away...thinkin it's a predator or something like that. Or the fly is just thinkin........ Damn! I'm ugly! |
