I believe it was Hussein who told ya'll to hunker down and sacrifice for him.

Do any of ya'll on unemployment have a back-up plan or you just going to sit and wait? I understand, you're probably looking for a job. Are you willing to do a job that will feed you and maybe keep you from being homeless?

Me, I'm a survivor. Been on the streets a few times. Great learning experience.

Yes, in the 70's, dug through dumpsters for food. My whole check going for rent and utilities, no tv, just a radio. When they were there, I'd take odd jobs for extra cash.

Law of nature, the strong will survive. Are you strong enough?

I don't believe mac d's pays enought to pay the rent and feed kids at the same time . and thats the way it is when you have to take kids jobs . I know the girls who wait tables here only get $3 per hour . If you want them to take those jobs then I think you should kick in the difference so that they can at lease wash .

I have a friend that is about my age and is a professional. He has suffered layoffs and collected unemployment. He told me a few weeks ago that he took an hourly job at Lowe's, just to get something going. He was embarrassed.

I asked him what he was embarrassed about? He is ten times the man some of these lazy ****s in this state are. They will sit on their assess until the unemployment runs out. Period.

If you've been on unemployment for two years, it's not that you can't FIND a job - you don't WANT a job!

Take something that is "beneath" you.

I'll bet my friend is managing a department at Lowe's by year's end and is collecting a salary. Because he is a go-getter and a hard worker. Not because someone is going to hand it to him.

Good for your friend, Lewis.

You're right. If a person sits on unemployment for extended periods, they don't want a job.

I'm not going to condemn them. If they are out of their homes and hungry, I could pick up labor for the cost of a couple meals and a bed in the barn. Just don't send me an engineer. They don't have the hands or the back. laugh

Well I can only speak for myself due to the unemployment and what I'm willing to do. I have worked all my life since I was 15 this is the first time I have been without a job. And have applied and received unemployment.

Sorry but the company's in fact pay towards this feature for their employees just in case this does happen.

I raised 2 kids on my own waiting tables would I do it again ya bet your sweet *** I would if it came down to the nitty gritty but until it does I will keep applying for jobs within the field that I have done for the last 12 years.

I have not applied for any other help beyond unemployment. Will it last forever? No and any one that is under the presumption that it does is with false information.

When you first apply it is for so long then you must reapply and you must follow the guidelines in order to keep receiving it as well.

You are so right txas gal. You earned the right to unemployment. I was laid off most of the summer but was secure in my union recall rights. We are brought back by senority. I had 17 years in. Got called back in July and been working since thanks to cash for clunkers. I hope you can find work in your chosen field soon and untill then I hope your unemployment holds out and the republicans dont fillabuster the extensions. It seems we have billions and billions for wars and nothing for the tax payers who fund them.

I hear ya'. I've done many jobs to make sur we were provided for.

Good luck to ya'!drinker

I keep in mind, most jobs that have been lost and exported are gone forever.

What I was sort of concerned about are those who refuse to go beneath themselves and have a wait and see attitude. I'm a get up and do.

We have been being sold out for many years and this current administration is no exception. They are continuing the sell-out.

McDonald's isn't enough to pay the rent and feed/clothe the kids at the same time. My neighbor works full time at White Castles and gets health benefits and she also works part-time in the deli at a grocery store. Her two children get Medicaid and food stamps. She can't even afford to buy a car.

NO....

"Updated below: The Senate has now recessed for the weekend without taking action.

Jim Bunning, a Republican from Kentucky, is single-handedly blocking Senate action needed to prevent an estimated 1.2 million American workers from prematurely losing their unemployment benefits next month.

As Democratic senators asked again and again for unanimous consent for a vote on a 30-day extension Thursday night, Bunning refused to go along.

And when Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) begged him to drop his objection, Politico reports, Bunning replied: "Tough chit."

Bunning says he doesn't oppose extending benefits -- he just doesn't want the money that's required added to the deficit. He proposes paying for the 30-day extension with stimulus funds. The Senate's GOP leadership did not support him in his objections.

And at one point during the debate, which dragged on till nearly midnight, Bunning complained of missing a basketball game.

"I have missed the Kentucky-South Carolina game that started at 9:00," he said,
"and it's the only redeeming chance we had to beat South Carolina since they're the only team that has beat Kentucky this year."

I bet this guy never had to work HARD for anything in his life.
If these people had to live a month in a working man/woman's shoes, they would NOT survive!

Shame on him..............

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm P.S. I know, as I was a recipient of that extension......... Thank you President Bush:banana:

I think that Kentucky Republican is a idiot. These are hard times and millions of hard working Americans have lost their jobs.If the government can piss away a hundred billion here and a hundred billion there on banks and insurance companies they can also give a hundred billion to the hard working Americans who lost their jobs.I feel for these people as I have been laid off due to lack of work many times and know how hard it can be to find a job again.

It seems our wonderful government has no problem giving tax payer money to a bunch of fat, cigar sucking, millionares but gives nothing to our poor people. You can complain about Bush but I remember him extending unemployment benefits 3 times longer than usual during his recession.I also remember him cutting checks two times for the taxpayers of this country.$600 for single people and $1200 for married people.Obama should do the same.

If you are too sick to GO to work, work wont matter. Health comes first but it doesnt mean nothing else is important and I have faith jobs will also pick up.

Sen. Jim Bunning continues to object to extending unemployment benefits. On Monday, the Kentucky Republican once again prevented a vote on a bill that would extend eligibility for enhanced unemployment benefits and subsidized health insurance for laid-off workers by 30 days.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) asked for unanimous consent to move forward with the bill. If Congress fails to pass an extension, the National Employment Law Project estimates that 1.2 million people will lose their benefits in March.

"Six times last week, Democrats asked to extend their unemployment benefits for a short time while they work on a longer extension," Reid said. "Six times, Republicans said no. They didn't just say no to us, that is members of the Senate. They said no to their families in their own states and all our states count on us to act

You are missing (PERHAPS INTENTIONALLY?) a major fact in this issue.........Bunning is all for, and so are the Republicans, for extending UCC benefits.........the POINT Bunning was trying to get through to everyone is that THERE HAS BEEN NO PLAN TO PAY FOR THE EXTENSION! The Democrats do not want to come up with a plan to pay for the UCC benefits extension, Bunning's whole reason for not voting for the way the bill now reads is because there IS NO PLAN TO PAY FOR IT.......frustrated

Now, I for one am totally for the extension, jobs are no where to be found, no where........... but the democrats have continually been spending, spending, spending, and have no way of paying for any of the bills they have been passing.............. THIS HAS TO STOP..........the USA CANNOT keep on printing money, cannot, and I do not think China will continue to do so, keep having CHINA buy our debt......obama was already reprimanded by China for his reckless spending spree...........PRETTY BAD WHEN A COMMUNIST NATION HAS TO REPRIMAND THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA ON HIS SPENDING POLICIES..........

Pretty funny, actually, because Bunning and some of the GOP is like a teenage boy being dragged to a shotgun wedding trying to claim it's not all his fault and that he was probably tricked into this situation. That besides, he _can't_ marry her because he's already married to someone else and that as an old-school Mormon, he's standing on principle -- _his_ rights are being violated because given his druthers, he'd be a polygamist. The fact that hypothetical teenage boy doesn't have a job and spends what little money he DOES have on playing World of Warcraft online is just an inconvenient detail.

It's simple, really-- like the lad who has to own up to paternity under the shadow of a 12 ga., the the GOP strategy for this fall is to filibuster everything in sight (they've already threatened to do so/have done so 40 times this year already, a new record that looks to triple the old one), so as to hem and haw their way out of responsibility for obstructing needed legislation. Their aim is to blame the gridlock on the Democratic party while being pretty cagey about what they'll do, hoping people won't notice.

Oh, they'll strike up the Tax Cutz Fer the Rich Band and claim tort reform will make medical care so cheap and plentiful we'll be giving dogs, cats and hamsters MRIs with all the excess capacity it'll generate. (Laff.)

It might even get them a few seats, but after it's all done, they'll still be like Mark Sanford of S. Carolina.

Well, try as I might, I cannot comprehend how you came up with this comparison.......nevertheless......Bunning was not 'filibustering' he was, in his own words 'OBJECTING' to the democrats NOT having a plan to pay for the UCC benefits extension, which, by the way, was temporary and only extended benefits for 30 days to some 400,000, whose benefits, including all of the Tier 1, 2, 3, were already used up. The bill also included other provisions for other projects, NOT just for the UCC benefits.

Be that as it may, it was quite obvious that Bunning had no intention of never voting for the bill, he was making a last stand, as he is retiring, to point out the fact that Harry Reid, who partook in initiating the 'pay as you go' policy, was totally going against his own policy in wanting to pass a bill with NO provision for paying for it. A bit on the hypocritical side for Reid and the democrats. Point in check that Bunning made quite clearly.

End result is 'voila' pull out of the magic hat, a new bill was quickly packaged together (perhaps the democrats already has this on the back burner and just want to score some desperate last minute political points to use against the Republicans for the November elections?????), which bill is even bigger, but my oh my, all of a sudden there is a way to pay for it.......and all shall vote for it and live happily ever after........

P.S. Oh, this was on the news tonight, FOX of course, what else would I dare to watch?
