I don't know about coming back to the States from Canada but, if you owe back child support, you could be detained and delivered to the Sheriff.

My neighbor owes and has deducted from his check, back child support. He is constantly going over to Mexico. Saturday, the computer said he owed back support and they arrested him. He had to come up with $150.00 to get bailed out and now, he will have to retain an attorney just to prove he's been paying all along.

So, if you owe and have a contract with support enforcement, I'd advise carrying a copy with you if you plan to go out of country.

I got a better one, one of our clients travelled to California to attend court trying to get visitation rights to see his son. He was there for two weeks then got pulled over and told that he'd been in the state too long and was supposed to register his car there.

They arrested him and towed his car.

Something tells me his ex is dating a cop...crooked MoFos.

I don't know exactly how they do it but since you have to have a passport or passport card to go back & forth between Canada or Mexico, they know if you have any criminal records and will deny you entry.

I have heard that even if you have a DUI, they will deny you entry into Canada or visa versa.
