I agree. Common courtesy doesn't seem to be taught at home anymore. I wonder why this is?
The children at young ages do not say excuse me, please, maam sir, thank you, etc.. Nor do they watch their mouths with the curse words when out in public. |

It's called the Golden Rule for a reason. It's very similar to reciprocity. Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.

Common courtesy....is it really common? What do you think (courtesy wise) should be common to all? |

Yeah i don't like seeing children swear and be all thuggish. I just think the world has turned stupid. Why are the parents proud when they do that?

Thank you for the thread
Sometimes I think that social graces have gone the way of the betaplayer. A lot of the time though I am pleasantly proven wrong. |

And now for a different perspective.......
It is good that we have uncouth people with no concept of courtesy. (Common or otherwise) Without them we would have no point of context to feel better about our selves as well as being able to validly assert that our own disciplined upbringing was superior. I'm glad I occasionally get to witness some low grade piece of s**t being an f'n douche. Makes me all happy to know that I am a slightly higher class piece of s**t. Gotta look at the positives people. |

Wow..a huge assumption Most people are good, I believe. We should all smile at each other, it has ripple effect....a courtesy smile for everyone we come across through out our day. |

DrRob,
actually, no, they aren't on welfare. The husband has a good paying job and the mom is able to stay at home with the kids (not that it does any good) |

i did say wayy out on the limb..and didnt mean to offend in any way.
i must explain..lately,ive been buying a lot of vehicles, and the people i keep meeting just dont seem to be any class at all.. the behavior you described and the kids upbringing was similiar. sometimes much worse. in my line of work,i meet a lot of people..sometimes good sometimes great but also sometimes bad.. and being a father of two, it kinda hurts to see their kids act like that nowadays. its a total lack of respect, coupled with the give-me theory. they have no respect for anyone and sometimes themselves as well and they feel that as parents we owe them somehow. and what i wonder,is,when our generation is gone and they have to raise their kids-/-kids...what will society be like? |

i was raised to say please and thank you and just be courteous and i think more children should be taught this
