ConocoPhillips Alaska president killed in avalanche

"CNN) -- The president of ConocoPhillips Alaska was killed in an avalanche and another person in his snowmobiling party is missing, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The body of Jim Bowles was recovered near Spencer Glacier by rescue workers shortly after police received a 911 call at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, said troopers spokesperson Megan Peters.

"When we found him we attempted CPR but we could not revive him," she said.

Bowles was apparently out with friends snowmobiling in the Grandview wilderness area. Rescuers are trying to find Alan Gage, who is thought to have been buried in the avalanche, Peters said.

Bowles was the head of Alaska operations for the oil company.

In a separate incident, miles from Spencer, another avalanche killed a skier Saturday afternoon. A woman who saw the accident called 911 while her husband was able to locate the skier's body. A dog accompanying the skier survived the avalanche, authorities said.

Between mid-February and mid-March, warm temperatures cause layers of snow to become unstable"

Ummmm...it says

Between mid-February and mid-March, warm temperatures cause layers of snow to become unstable"

Well here's a news flash for you.

It IS ' mid ' February. February has 28 days....

Today is the 14th...( Are you writing this down because I would hate to have to repeat it )...that means we are EXACTLY halfway through February. That means it IS Mid February.

Sooo....this
Humm, melting came a bit early this year?
...is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen said here.

What's that you say?? It happened yesterday???

Ohhh....that makes SO much difference.

The fact is, the avalanche occurred right around the time they NORMALLY occur.

So take your left wing scare tactics and go preach to the choir. At least THEY won't have the common sense to point out the obvious.

I did point that out as well.

Makes no difference.

The fact remains that the avalanche wasn't " early " because of global warming. Of Climate Change.....or whatever the hell the next Lib watchword will be.

Climate change and global warming are the exact same thing.

Global warming refers to the oceans getting warmer effecting the weather and climate change refers to anything that changes the weather.

Nice backtrack.

Gotta give you credit for that.

Too bad the " Psyche " idea, and trying to pass it off as some kind of joke won't work.

Your track record, through you posts here, clearly show that you are more than willing to blame " Climate Change " for something that happens at the SAME TIME EVERY YEAR.

Of course, we all know that you NEVER get cold in the Winter because you have that nice wool coat.

Too bad you can't see the truth because of all the wool that's been pulled over your eyes.

I read it as this climate change is an annually occurring event that is expected based on history. I did not read it as a "Global Warming" topic.
As for the inadvertent error on the part of M.E. about being early, let it go!! LOL Geeeez, pick pick pick!

I'm not the one who posted the title the way it is.

Climate Change had nothing to do with the avalanche.

The title is, at the very least, dishonest.

I don't think the error was inadvertent....or an error at all.

It is but there are some people who bury their head in the sand and deny that anything is happening, then you got those who know that the earth changes on its own but bury their head in the sand and deny that WE HUMANS are influencing it in any way! And no I'm no LIB just ask Dragoness and Winx

Awww, he's just angry to have been gotten...I posted this on the real blog site I use and people laughed along with me...I thought it as a poetic irony fantasy....there was no mistake the anal ones wished for...you see they can take a small error and dismiss everything...it's in their DNA...yo.

Sure I think we need to clean the planet up, quit using fossil fuels that are making a bad situation worse...and especially for the generations after us...the Greenhouse effect is real and man is contributing to GCC. This planet is DIRTY!
