Topic: If we only listened... | |

Hey adj -- great to see your post.
The family unit....now this is a BIG topic. I think you are right in pointing to this, for the breakdown of the family unit (and especially the extended family unit) leaves our citizenry so occupied with just making it through the day that we have little time for thinking about larger issues. And of course the poor quality of news on TV only isolates people further from what is going on in the country. Oceans |

The word to use is APATHY
Yes the public is letting all of this happen. We are allowing career poilticians, NEED 2 term Limits, Need a federal sales tax, dropping income tax, Need the LAWS ON THE BOOKS enforced/ quit the plea bargains, Need our teachers to go back to TEACHING & being held accountable for their jobs. Every vote does matter & it is time people understood that. I was called simple recently & took it as a compliment. I think we NEED to get back to simple. Big business is failing because executives come from the outside & have no pride/loyalty from coming up thru the ranks. Taking this country back requires lots of SIMPLE things. Not guns, advertising, violence; just educated voters |

I agree on the point adj was making, family unit is pretty well
destroyed. It seems to me that women have no interest in being married before having children anymore. I should include men in this mix, but the few women I know who had children out of wedlock didn't bother to get their boyfriend's agreement, however they were quick to get the courts to enforce their rights to child support. It is a wild world for child bearing. Sorry that sounds so bad, but I just see what I see. However, that was off the topic, so lets get back to the original issue. Yes DaVinci the corporations are quite powerful. They have had a large measure of control over governments historically. In the US and Europe over the last century you can see this quite a lot. This is a difficult situation to modify. The economy is another thing hijacked by large entities and this follows your point as well. I'm interrupted now although I had more to say on the subject. I'll have to come back later. These matters concern me as well. |

Speaking as a mother with a child out of wedlock family has nothing to
do with legal documentation. My child and I live with extended family to help each other out. What I can do is to teach the children that I am in contact with how important family and friends are. To help your fellow people. |

remember Bush Sr. telling us "its a new idea."
its the New World Order. its the one Bush Sr. stated over 250 times when he was in office. Clinton, Gore and Bush Jr. also gave cridence to The New World Order. So did Kennedy and Reagon. Here is a great, great interview. http://prisonplanet.tv/audio/231105roberts.htm |

You are on it oldsage! Some people make a career out of complicating
the obvious if for no other reason than to puff their chests and say "look at me" when in fact we already are and are trying not to laugh. Them thar perfessers ya know. |

the destruction of the family unit is the beginning of the downfall of society the child needs male and female roles in their developmental years i am not saying you or anyone else are in a bad situation but look at the changes in the society since say the sixtys the moral fiber has deteriorated till it is barely noticable and most of the leaders of the country were children at one time or another when a leader grows up in a lopsided environment then they will lead with a lopsided view and if you wanna disagree that is fine but it is hard to argue the decline of society |

When an argumant is presented as women, (direct or indirect) being the
downfall of a lop-sided society, surely one can expect a response... I would like to respond to davinci's posts about dis-ease in society... and ask a question, or three... What are the statistics related to the increases, from 1970 - current date, of anti-depressant prescriptions, also behaviour related prescriptions, eg, Bi-polar, ADD, ADHD, in the US? Is there an increase? What are the social contributers to these rises? And is it just 'break-through' information, and medicines, from the psychological, and psychiatric fields, the biological, and medical fields, or is it a 'bandaid' measure to something much bigger? |
|
|
|
Sorry, davinci's comment in regards to 'all on drugs', not dis-ease.

IMHO, Jess...
The rising numbers may have something to do with more public recognition of the symptoms. We're more open with our mental health issues. |
