Kendra depending on where you look it's either Scots Gaelic or Anglo-Saxon or Dakota. Under the first two its "the knowing or knowledgable woman" and comes from to ken, to know. With Dakota it means "water-baby", which is actually pretty appropriate, except that's not why it was chosen.
