Hi everyone, I need some opionions from you all. I now live in the northeast and am getting tired of the hard winters. I want to move somewhere hot and dry and affordable, and I mean real affordable. I don't have much money to take with me. I have good job skills so should be able to get a job once I get there. Any suggestions, I would like Arizona, but I googled it and it sounds very expensive.

I thought about Arizona myself..not so far from where I am. I think it's costly, don't really know though. A couple areas there are sooo over populated..so many people. Ya will have that dry, hot weather though.

If you move to Phx it could be expensive. Tucson is cheaper and much smaller. It depends if you want to rent or buy. The pay is low here compared to most places, people take the low pay to live in the desert. There are affordable places you have to be here and look around do not go by what is on the Internet adds.

You could try New Mexico, I lived there for a while years ago. Has the climate you want, if you do some searching, you can find an affordable area to settle in.

Winslow, AZ, and they have the world famous North Park Plaza Shopping Center, conveniently located next to I-40.

If you decide to head towards NM and go I-10, stop in at Ft. Stockton.
There are places you can get pretty reasonable. They are about 15 to 20 miles out of town.

Arizona is beautiful, but I need warm humidity or my skin gets dry..Vain huh?

Everyone I know in Florida, Savannah and Charleston love it.
Yes we have hurricanes down here, but are given notice and I can live with that.

Charleston winters get cold but are short.

North Carolina is my dream state. Maybe one day..

I think traveling would help you make up your mind..and sounds fundrinker

Good luck..

I tried to email you and I'm blocked! laugh
Here's the info I tried to send.

If you come this way and wish to check out the Fort Stockton area, I have a travel trailer you can camp in. I can also introduce you to some women friends of mine and a group of old farts who get together at the truckstop for coffee a couple times a day. They have spent most all their lives there.

There are affordable places. They are just a bit out of town.

If you decide to do that, I can either meet you up there or Gen. Deliver a gate key and directions to my place.

I lived in New Mexico for a couple of years, Clovis, North Eastern part. It does get cold in the winter but nothing like the Northeast or Midwest. Don't know what they have for jobs though.

I've lived in New Mexico for almost 2 years now. Raised in the northeast, I hear ya on those hard winters...don't miss 'em one bit! Prior to this I was in the southeastern corner of WA state for 30 years, where the climate is very similar to Albuquerque...only it was GREEN there. I took on the same type of work I did in WA, but with a little bit of a pay cut.

My dad is moving the family back to Arizona but I myself am moving to Israel.

California and Arizona are great places to live if you know the right place.

Arizona - No one said you have to live in Phoenix. If you live just outside the major cities, you should see a drop in living expenses. My dad is moving the family up to the Route 66 location.

California - Same as Arizona. Stay on the outskirts of major towns. I lived in Anaheim Hills, Los Angeles, San Diego, Ramona, Van Nuys, North Hollywood, Bel Aire and Monterey Bay. Ramona is pretty out there, but it is about an hour's drive to the beaches and to major hot spots. I know a lot of Marines who live out there to get off the base. (Camp Pendleton).

But the choice is ultimately yours, dear.

My little sister lives up in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I went there for the summer and it never got higher than 80 degrees. It was so remarkably beautiful up there! I just warn you that street signs and the street lamps are placed in really bad spots almost so you never see them. And the lights take SOOOOOO long to change!

You are describing Texas. It has probably the best job market, most affordable real estate, and brutal hot dry climate around ... but not necessarily all in the same place. Dallas is hot but flat. San Antonio is hot, hilly and beautiful, and affordable. Austin is beautiful but less affordable. Houston is hot and wet (it's on the coast).
