Would you rather hug a tree and freeze or cut it down, burn it and stay warm???

we dont have trees but hellyeah I'd burn a thousand year old sequoia if I had to to stay alive. they are just trees |

well, you can hug a tree and not freeze. so that is good.
and if you cut it down and burn it, you will only stay warm for as long as it lasts - so that is not very satisfying for the long term. on the other hand, there are lots of trees so one tree more or less is of no great importance. but losing too many would be a real tragedy. so - yeah. |

..as well as staying warm, you can also use the fire to cook food.

i would find 10 dead trees and cut them all down, allowing more light in, to promote healthier growth to the new saplings currently in the shade, under the dead trees. i would cut down a healthy tree and plant either a few seeds or a few cuttings from said tree.
i would be warm, the forest would remain its called sustainable liveing, put back what you take. more people need to think this way |

Cut the tree! That is how most get houses anyways. 2x4's are not born ya know! Then if you are a survivalist, you have the pitch, limbs, and bark to make a water tight shelter.

I'll be putting in a furnace this summer that burns wood pellets.
