The best thread kills are done when someone makes a point so well no one can argue with it. They make it seem so obvious that everyone just thinks "oh yeah." I haven't seen much of that around here. On the other hand, sometimes it ruins the fun.

Someone makes a point so well there simply isn't anything else to say. No one is able to disagree any longer because the point is so obvious. It's like someone just shoved an elephant into the light and everyone can suddenly see it. But, as I said, I haven't seen much of that around here. But, on the forums at the straight dope you see it fairly often. Those are some SMART people on that forum.
