Heck, he sent Gonzales to the AG's hospital death bed to get him to sign a warrantless phone tap order.
When he was waylaid by an alert acting AG, he just signed the order without him.

What in the BLUE HELL does that have to do with what is going on RIGHT NOW??? Absolutely nothing except one more way for the Dems to excuse their Anti American behaviors. " When things are going right...BLAME BUSH " It's realy, REALLY getting old.

This breaks no rules,
strips no rights from the people, and

There really isn't any sense to include the Anti-American Party.
Every time there is a vote they vote no, and they do nothing up to that vote but delay it, and attempt to obstruct it.

They have no interest in helping "the people", only in helping their sponsors, Insurance lobbyists. So why include them?

No sense...other than the fact that they are completely disregarding the way things have been done since the country was founded. They are completely and utterly destroying the idea of " checks and balances " that our founding fathers laid forth 200 plus years ago.

This is getting more and more ridiculous by the day.

The Republicans have no interest in Participation in health-care reform.
They all voted no every time, so why include them in this step?

Because, regardless of how they vote....they MUSTS be included so that the voices of the people who aren't Democrats can be heard.

What part of this are you failing to get???

If the Dems are so willing to completely bypass any debate about this...or allow Republicans to have their say, they are utterly ignoring around 1/2 the population of this country.

Do NOT try to tell me they are " the party of the people ".

They are only the " party of those who agree with them ".

Don't worry Republicans will still get the opportunity to vote no.

They just wont get a chance to delay and obstruct the bill for another 6 months.

Look and open you eyes.
There are two bills, both of which the Republican Party voted unanimously against.

Those two bills have to be combined into one.
Through compromise!

Why should the Republican Party be considered in deliberations to combine two bills they did nothing but delay and obstruct for a year?

Why should they be included in compromising any point when they all voted unanimously against both, and undoubtedly will vote against again?

They pretty much excluded themselves.
Congress has other matters at hand. Why let the Republicans delay and obstruct this bill anymore?

How can you POSSIBLY be so blind???

They HAVE to be considered so that the people THEY REPRESENT are allowed the voice that was given to them by the founding fathers of this country.

Did you or did you NOT serve this country in the military to protect the people's rights??

Not just SOME of those rights...ALL of them. INCLUDING the right to be heard even if they disagree.

Why should they be included in compromising any point when they all voted unanimously against both, and undoubtedly will vote against again?

They pretty much excluded themselves.

Because that is the way things were set up to be.

The founding fathers wanted it that way.

Are we now changing the very basis of what this country was founded on???

The Republicans have been considered.

Problem is, they have no consideration in health-care reform and no consideration for the American people.

The bill is complete except for a final compromise and they have no interest.
Why allow them to delay it any more?
Why consider them?
Let Congress get on with business.
Like confirmation of Southers, illegal immigration reform, etc.

Let the Republicans delay and obstruct those issues.
Let the light shine on their Anti-American considerations on another issue.
Sooner or later even the remaining 32% of America will catch on to their game.

Meanwhile, the dems, after buying about 4 votes at the taxpayers expense insist on passing their own stripped down bill. The original bill was bad enough but now the dems are handing the insurers another treasure chest.

Republicans said NO way No How from the beginning - cause the dems insisted it's our way or the highway.

Not changing rules.
There really aren't any rules.
There really isn't any sense to include the Anti-American Party though.

This is a lie.

There have been many votes that were voted on besides the health care bill...

the are following the will of the people when the vote no on that particular monster...

By now we all know it ain't about real health care... It is about redistrubuting moneys from your pocket to theirs.

my question about shutting out the Republicans in this is...

Is this not a form of taxation without representation? To exclude the Republicans would mean some states would not be represented even though this effects all states.

Is that not unconstitutional?

Technically, no. Because the people are being represented by their chosen/elected officials.

However, it IS against everything the founding fathers set up for us.

They felt that the people should be heard.

The Dems are doing nothing more than silencing those that don't agree with them.

By not allowing the Republicans into debate, they are stripping the people who voted for those Republicans the right to be heard.

But if their chosen reps ARE Republicans, then they aren't being represented by shutting out the Republicans....correct?

No. Technically, the representation is there. So that would keep it within the Constitution.

It might be interesting if someone decided to challenge the bill on that basis. But I don't think they would get very far.

JAG...this is where you are losing me (yes I know it's not hard to do laugh )

If the Republicans are NOT there, how are they there? Assuming the Democrats can keep the Republicans out

maybe I am not asking the question in the right way

"House and Senate Democrats intend to bypass traditional procedures when they negotiate a final compromise on health care legislation, officials said Monday, a move that will exclude Republican lawmakers and reduce their ability to delay or force politically troubling votes in both houses."

This is the part of excluding them I am asking about. If they are excluded, then they can't vote and therefore can represent their state

WE'VE HAD IT SHT UP TO HERE WITH YOUR CRYIN sad AND grumble BELLYACHIN...: HEY GREAT IDEA!! They're finally listening to US for a change! Remember us?? P.S. Stick a nuck in it babes...that means binkie to you, (or pacifier if you never had a baby) Now if you take your time out quietly like a good little boy, we'll still let you vote on it OK?

This is so much fun...the guy who is upset because the money man doesn't need any better health care, could pay the whole hospital bill himself!! Great idea, now why didn't we think of that sooner??
 If just a few people pay cash for their bill, the rest of us may not have to get hit with $7-10 grand in debt per visit! Thanks moneyman, we love you so much!flowerforyou

The technicality is that, even though the Dems will be excluding the Reps from debate, the fact is that the Reps are present in Washington.

The " taxation without representation " idea wouldn't fly because the people are < technically > being represented. They just aren't going to be allowed to have their voices heard.

If someone decided to challenge the bill in court because of the Republicans being excluded, it would be that technicality which would probably prove to be the argument the opposing side would use.

And of course, you are perfectly fine with the Democrats < who are, by the way, supposed to be the party for the people > completely ignoring millions upon millions of people who voted for Republicans.

Tell ya what.

If you are so willing for only one party to have any say in anything, why don't you just take yourself to Cuba?

They have a dictatorship there.

That is what this end around by the Dems equates to.

JAG...I see what you are saying...but even if they are in the country then couldn't the same apply? It reminds me of an old song about not letting one play in their reindeer games laugh vote with us or you can't vote at all. How is that democracy?

U.S. president Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) defined democracy as:
«Government of the people, by the people, for the people»

so by not letting the opposition vote...they can't represent the people that voted for them.

Silence the opposition seems to be a trend lately

they have to push it though as fast as they can

the 2010 election is gonna cost em the filibuster proof majority so they have to shove what they can through while they still can
