Ever have one of those days where you want to effin scream?!?
Well mine wasn't one of those, but it was pretty close. I woke up and my car won't start so I ask my landlord to help push my car & give me a jump. He comes up with a "better idea" and gives me a battery charger. So I hook up the battery charger & call my boss to let him know I'm going to be late. Well the battery charger didn't work so my boss came & picked me up & let me use a company car to take my son to school. On my lunch break I try pushing my car by myself to get it in a position so I can jump it. I get it part way but can't get it the rest of the way cause it's slightly uphill on a gravel driveway. I had neighbor help me push & I was able to try & jump it. It still wouldn't even try to turn over so now I think it's the starter. After work I go to the parts store to get a starter & it's closed. I'm in a hurry to get my son to a kid's group called Awanas so I go to a drive through & my son won't make up his mind what he wants and there's now four cars behind me. I order for him & he throws a giant fit. Already being a bit stressed out, I raised my voice at him & now he's upset with me. I'm home now & I'm outa beer Someone give me a massage or something |

Ahhhh, I give the best massages w/ the finest essential oils!
... I'm sending one to ya on the psychic hook~up and big hugs and love! I use those moments to illustrate to my child that becoming an adult has not yet in resulted in one perfect person. We are all flawed humans and fallable, wemake big mistakes. Then, I let her KNOW I messed up and take full accountability! He was there, he KNOWS ya were havin' a crummy day and snapped, he will love ya more if ya claim it as such! Ownership... An endearing, bonding moment ... Actually a gift! Still, sorry for the rotten day! ... |

Well it's not the battery or the starter. Any mechanics in the house?

I found this online which makes me think it may be the neutral safety switch. I was having issues getting my car to start before when in park so I would shift into neutral to start it. The shifter seems a bit off, meaning reverse, neutral, drive, second & first gear don't line up quite right. I'm pretty car savvy & don't want to spend a load of cash to have a mechanic bend me over
"The starter won't crank - If nothing happens when you turn the ignition key to "Start" position, means that the starter motor doesn't turn over the engine. Most commonly this could be caused by a dead battery; here is How to check the battery. However, if the battery is OK, but the starter still won't crank, there could be a number of possible reasons. Here are some of them: - The ignition switch could be at fault - it's a common problem. - The starter motor itself is common to fail. - Starter motor control wire could have bad connection. - Cars with an automatic transmission have a Neutral Safety Switch that allows the starter to be operated only when the transmission is in "Park" or "Neutral" position. When this switch isn't functioning properly, or for example, when the shifter is not fully engaged in "Park" or "Neutral" position, the starter also won't crank. - Similarly, cars with manual transmission have a switch installed at the clutch pedal that only allow the car to be started when the clutch pedal is depressed. The problem with this clutch pedal switch could also prevent the starter from operating - A problem with vehicle's security system or some other electronic control module (e.g, PCM, BCM) may also prevent the starter from operating." |

Guess I'm on my own on this one. I'm taking the starter back to the parts store & getting a neutral safety switch. I'm just glad I can use a company car till I get mine running.
