What do you do when you meet a really nice person but there mouth smells like trash. Obviously they do not have good Oral hygiene.
Now you don't want to hurt there feelings. But you can't stomach to be around them smelling like that.
What to do? I really hate to have to dismiss these people that I really like just because there breath is nasty. And sorry a Tick Tac just isn't going to cut it.
I'm sure they have no idea. So how do you tell them?
Hmmmmm.... I like you but I can't date you because?
Help me!!!!

Could be something serious with bacteria. Maybe you could go that route in asking if he has problems with gingivitus.

It is embarassing to approach the subject but you could be doing him a favor. Good luck!

Sadly bad breath can be from many causes. Severe bad breath can be something that is inherited and if a person doesn't have good insurace seeing a specialist to treat it may not be affordable.

What generally causes bad breath is extream tooth decay. Again with no insurance, which is rare in many jobs for men, especially for someone who owns their own business is tough. A positive suggestion is finding a sliding scale dental program or a school who will offer student insurance that also has dental.

Because severe bad breath can be a symptom of diabetes, an oral STD, throat, gum, stomache, or even lung cancer it is something that absolutely should be checked out. If this is a person who matters to you on a personal level a gift certificate might motivate them to make a life saving choice.

You know even if it isn't a really special person in your life isn't it in the true spirit of Christmas to do such a careing thing?

Yes, I agree that bad breath is not always just about brushing your teeth. Maybe you could somehow find a way to talk to them about it?

I would be subtle,, ask them if they just ate onions, and next time ask if they just had fish,,it will get the message across enough for them to maybe pay more attention to it.

I offer them my really strong mint gum that I keep in my purse and keep offering it. They eventually ask me if they have a problem and I tell them yea it is rank.

If that didn't work I would probably buy them some Listerine and tell them gently that they need it. Listerine works best against gingivitis which is usually the main cause of bad breath.

I would use your last statement and add something like :...but i wonder what you eat before everytime we catch up., it's got me guessing because I can smell it on your breath"
I knew of a person who was eating fennel(?) seeds for some sort of health reasons and it caused them to have virocious breath. I asked "What have you been eating?" and they told me and said they had gotten a comment another day, and they had taken mints that day so were going to quit because of that. My ex would have horrible breath when he hadn't eaten in a few hours, high metabolism would empty his stomach quickly and it would cause bad breath.
Most people don't realize they have bad breath-usually. How are the shape of his teeth, appearnce wise? He may have a cavity and can't afford to have it fixed. If you want to have a relationship with this person...now is the best time to start talking about things. flowerforyou
