Topic: Do you have any lucky charms? | |
---|---|
My lucky charm is this big anvil I got from my dad. It is over two
hundred years old and dad got it from Germany when I was a child for my birthday. Dad told me he wanted to get me something I couldn't break and that would be useful to me. So far nobody has tried to steal this anvil from me and it takes everything I have just to lift it. I keep it in the closet because when I had it in the living room I just about broke my toe walking into it. It reminds me that it isn't always easy just to pick up roots. It has great sentimental value to me. |

NOPEEEEEEEE. Don't believe in luck or coincidence

Those darn kids are always trying to take me lucky charms.
Somebody had to say it. |

Good point, Spider. They are magically delicious.
My wife used to have this superstition about black cats crossing our path when we driving down the road. She would say let's just turn around and take another road. I would say if it that much bad luck why don't I just run over it. She would then say no don't hurt the poor kitty. |

have not had lucky charms for a couple decades
dang lepricans anywho besides the marshmallow treats in them are hard |
I have never carried a 'lucky' charm. Like a shoe or a rabitts foot or
a cross. |
The rabbit's foot wasn't very for the rabbit so I can see your point. My
dad used to have this thing about when he handed you a knife he wanted returned close if he gave it to you closed. |

A lucky shoe. I had almost forgotten about that one.
I take that to be a horse shoe?

You guys mention the cereal Lucky Charms....I had some this
morning mu-haha! |
I like Lucky Charms but like Robin said those marshmallows are hard. My
older sister once poured some cereal in her bowl then changed her mind and put it back in the box. It was yucky by the time I poured me some. Older siblings can be mean to ya. |

I believe that any object can serve as a totem.
Although, what they really bring is love, not luck. The love is not in the totem, but at the same time, being near a totem or touching it can indeed heighten the spiritual connection that the totem serves. Just don’t drop it on your foot. (ha ha) |

Another superstition that my wife had was with lucky pennies. If the
penny was heads up then it was ok to pick it up but if the penny was tails up it was bad luck. The knock on wood I have heard many do. I am not sure where it got originated. |

wow I am familar with all the things your wife says. Is she a southern
bell like my mom? |
Never carried or claimed anything was lucky for me, we make our own luck
in this world nothing can give it to us |
She was. I had a real adversion to crosses which can be seen from my
earlier poetry. Like, James said about the totem applied to me. On a subconcious level I was fighting the reality of her death. I have some real gory poetry. |
I'm sorry. God bless you
But the gory poetry was kind of lucky because I met some friends who had
some gorier poetry than mine. |
