Well my last g/f asked me if I would move to Australia with her. I laughed and said, "Well how about this? I'm not Chinese, but what the hell, let's move to Shanghai for 10 years, and if after those 10 years you don't like it, we can move to Oz, fair?" The matter was quickly dropped.

Well, mate, Kiwis, I don't have a problem with, neither the Brits, it's those damn arrogant Aussies, and they have no respect for Americans. I know all to well, s'truth! Never again, kangaroo, sheep lovin', koala lovin' freaks, the lot of them, bloody wankas! |

I don't think I would. It would be unfair and selfish to those who have stood by me through all my ups and downs and those psychotic episodes I have put myself through! LOL I think it the long term it would hurt the relationship.

I agree, it would hurt the relationship if one wants it and the other is afraid to explore a new adventure. It has to be mutual. Otherwise I think it could enhance a relationship towards the next few levels. Being willing to experience differences, cultures, being flexible, openminded, and most of all having faith and confidence in your mate and yourself.... I think it all plays a part in any relationship whether you travel to another country or try to deal here in your own playpen...

I can't see myself doing that. LDR's are merely based on internet type, text messages, and a phone call here or there. Actual in-person time is limited considerably, and I can't do that.

I find it interesting that there were women that said yes and unless I missed something no men. I wonder why? You missed something, yes. <--- Look up a few posts. I wonder why you missed it also. Atlantis, Terry, Monier- 3 men who said yes. JtEvans - can she pimp you out if it's not working? |

That is exactly what I am in the process of doing...can visit the family and friends on occasion and still be with the man of my dreams. He is worth every change that I am making and could not imagine not having him in my life

Only if their in a similar location. Otherwise i feel cheated somehow. lol. I'm more likely to move to a diff country if it was for a career i've always wanted.

Would you..... Give up being close to family & friends. Leave your job.... All, for a long distance relationship. I don't know... I'd sure miss my kids and my wife... and I'm the only one with the keys to the office filing cabinet. This babe had better be good. |

Would you..... Give up being close to family & friends. Leave your job.... All, for a long distance relationship. Whoa... hold on. If I give all this up, I'm moving there to be with the partner, no? Then it's no longer a long distance relationship, is it? It is just simply establishing a new existence, with none of the old stuff still clinging to me. So what is the long distance relationship you talk about? I have a new babe, I move across the continent, and then have third babe with whom I can have a long distance relationship from my new base? Who's going to pay for all this? Please, don't ask me to do this. I'm 55, old enough to not have enough energy for this. Staying up late enough to watch the 11 o'clock news is a wild enough night for me. |

Pardon my confusion, but isn't an LDR one where you DON'T move to be near them? Doesn't it become a just-plain Relationship if you move?
If you mean would I give serious consideration to dropping everything and move to be near someone I've only known from a great distance, I'd have to say a brain tumor or aneurysm would be required first. The degree of childish belief in the magic of love required is beyond my aged abilities. I WOULD move heaven, earth, AND give up my favorite parking spot to be with someone I already loved, if I could. I have a personal limit though, of a severely handicapped child, who I would NOT give up being near for any mere lover. |
