What if the other person says "I love you" first,but you can't say it back because you are not sure? What would you say? "Oh no you friggen' don't!" in my always sarcastic tone of voice, probably followed by "what are you, insane?" Then I'd laugh and remind him that "love" freaks me out so we should stick to being steamy, passionate monogamous "friends".

What would you say? you could try going down the patrick swayzee in ghost route and say 'ditto' but then you might have to do the whole coin up a door thing and who's really got time for all that.....
