I vary between really fast (usually if I'm excited about what I'm talkin
about) to total brain dead, duhh, if I'm nervous and self-conscious.

I am a recruiter and a big part of my job is to hold interviews.
Interviewing is a stressful situation and I have seen people cry, freak
out, become unable to speak at all.

I just remind people that I am just a guy and my job is to pick the best
person for the position and if they blow this interview I will just hire
the nest person laugh laugh

Joking......... I have them take a deep breath and let them know that
its all ok and I have them talk with me like a parent for a end result
that they will have a job.

I'm kinda like DaVinci. If I'm nervous, I'll start answering in a long
sentence and then forget where I was going with it. lol

I've had the problem in speeding up during public speaking. Just breath
deep in from your lungs and when you are reaching for thoughts pause in
silence instead of using "um" or "so" "and."

What job was this for? Hopefully, he didn't take that out on you and
everything went fine.

This is kind of embarrassing, but true. When I get extremely nervous I
suddenly need to go to the bathroom. And not for number 1.

laugh laugh yeh i used to um to death. The key is to pause and be
comfortable when things are silent to think. To think slowly and speaker
slower.

As long as your nervous, they (employer) knows you're alive. We've all
been there before. We're human.

I sat on interview panels in the prison system hiring clerical
positions. We always understood people were nervous and would talk to
them and even joke some before we started the interview to try to get
them to relax some.

Had one woman start crying in the interview - was surprised by that.

Another woman looked at me and said "you have inmates in this building"
- (ah, yes, it is a prison).
