Topic: Search by Interests does not work | |
---|---|
I clicked on one Interest listed on a profile, and it brought up every potential match, whether they listed that interest or not. I tried several other interests and the same thing happens.

Hi TaoistMagus,
I'm not aware of any problems with this. I tried it and it seemed to work, but I will check into it a bit more. Kim Site Moderating Team |

My profile is a good one to use for testing since I list a lot of interests, and some of them are kinda obscure (I Ching, for example).
I can click on any of the interests that I list in my profile (hoping to find women interested in the same thing), and it brings up the same 400+ list of all women in my area every time. A random sampling of those women reveals that none of them are listing 'I Ching' or 'Firefly' or 'rifle' in their profiles as interests. It's not a big deal, but since searching by interest appears to be offered as a feature, it'd be nice to have it work. Thanks! Also, I'd love to be able to sort by multiple zodiac signs at once, e.g.: I'd love to see all Aquarius, Sagittarius, Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, and Pisces women. |

Hi, TaoistMagus. I did some testing with your account and the Search keys that you noted, but I was not able to duplicate the problem. When I used "I Ching", for example, I got zero accounts in the results. Are you making sure to click the 'Search' button after entering your specific interest in the appropriate text field?

Actually I'm clicking on the title of the interests themselves, as they appear to be hyperlinks...

Okay, I think I understand what you are referring to. Is this an example?

TaoistMagus, I've done a bit of messing around with this, and I see why you'd think it wasn't working. There's an extra step that you must take that isn't apparent.
After you click on the link showing an interest, it looks as if it's showing you people that share that interest. It is NOT doing so. What it is doing is adding that term to the search parameters. After that, you have to click "Search". Once you've done so, a list will pop up of people in your search area that share that interest. Hope this helps. Lori Lead Moderator for Mingle2 |
