Should have voted for Ron Paul. I supported him for the nomination, but a third party candidate has no chance at the presidency. i simply voted the (slightly) lesser of two evils. i think that is the largest fatal flaw (next to the fed) that our government has. we need to eliminate the party system and simply take the top 10 or something. maybe play NCAA style and work our way down from 16 I like the idea of removing the party system but the big problem is money. The sad thing is who ever has more money has a better chance of wining |

The whole blaming Bush thing is getting pretty old.He has been in office for over a year now.The Democrats had control of both the house and Senate 2 years before Bush even left office. They wasted precious time and millions of dollars on dumb ideas like trying to get Bush impeached and Global warming regulations when they should have been concentrating on the economy.
Obama is not only as bad as Bush he is worse! This country has been bleeding red ink like a severed artery concerning job losses and I haven't heard any good ideas or really any solutions on how to stop it.The only thing he keeps talking about is these fricken green jobs which from what I have heard has not hired a single person. It also seems to me the job loses and economy should be his first priority but it seems to be his last. Record high job losses-But lets worry about the health care debate. Banks closings on a monthly basis-But lets worry about the health care debate. Our economy in the toliet and our dollar falling like a stone-But lets worry about the health care debate. I'm so happy I didn't vote for this guy.If I had I would feel like I would have to throw myself in jail for what he has done to this country. |

I think he has actually been in 10 months and the first order of business was an economic stimulus. I believe healthcare is a reasonable priority and doesnt necessarily mean it is the ONLY issue that is being worked on. As americans we have this awful tendency to think that if we arent reading about it , it isnt happening. |

What is more important having a job or having health care?Even if it does pass it wont take affect until 2013(because Obama knows he won't get re-elected when public health care bankrupts the nation). We will have millions of Americans broke and out of money (if they are not already there now)and still no health care so what is the point? |

I dont have the details to know when it will begin to take affect, and as I posted before, I have no reason to believe the economy will not continue to be addressed. |

How often are you sick enough not to work?Even for those who do get sick the majority of them have health insurance because they are working and are covered anyways. What are you going to do with out money?Your going to lose everything and probably your own life.I think it's a poor argument when you are a healthy person and you think health insurance should be a priority over losing your job and your only source of income. |

We can agree to disagree. I believe there are many working and uninsured and also many who become to sick to work and dont have the insurance or money to get the care to get better. I still believe without health,, nothing else will matter. Id rather be healthy enough to struggle through another day than to be jobless BECAUSE I am too unhealthy to maintain my work. |

10 months, or even a year isn't that long. He started with a mess, is in pretty deep and has a lot to prove. He is our first African-American President. I'm just saying it's a bit early to be pointing fingers. If I did point a finger right now, it definitely would not be at Obama.
I wouldn't try to get into a debate about this, I will admit myself that I am far from an expert in politics. It isn't my area. Let's say that I look at the sky and see that it is blue, and most everyone else sees that it is blue because it is unlikely that we would all witness different wave-frequencies of light. Let's say that someone standing next to me says that it is red, and proceeds to give me what he or she thinks is a good argument supporting it. Even someone like me is going to feel inclined to step forward and object, mostly out of sheer surprise that that person actually managed to come to that conclusion. All I'm saying is that it is obvious that the sky is blue. |

I mean, really... is that supposed to make me feel all gooey inside? He's just the 44th president of the United States as far as anyone who's not positively fixated on race is concerned.. His heritage and ethnicity are of little concern to me.. what is of concern to me are his ideologies and his political philosophies.. How does he view the Constitution? What does he think the role of a judge is? How will he carry out the duties of his office? Will he be an effective commander-in-chief? or will he be asleep at the switch? Will he respect the limitations placed on the office (and the government for that matter) by the Constitution?? Those are the issues that concern me.. And they're the only issues that need concern the American people in such a pivotal and serious time in our history.. "...the content of his character, not the color of his skin..." By nature of him being a FIRST,,,kind of like Tiger Woods... Same thing would be true if Hilary had won as the first Female President. |

It is expected every four years to vote one in but this year is the first time a BLACK male has been voted in . This will have a special place in the history, more so than the other 43. Therefore his accomplishments or failures will be much more widely publicized and documented. |

I think it should be pointed out that in the past when a persons uemployment benefits ran out he/she was no longer counted as unemployed. Obamas and Bush's (ouch that hurt) compassion in extending benefits is keeping people counted longer than in the past. This is probably one of the first times the unemployment figure reflects an accurate number. Had benefits not been extended to millions the figure would be lower but the reality differant. Fail. unemployment includes all those actively seeking work and those on unemployment (as many of them do not look for work). The only ones not included are the discouraged workers and those that work in "non-workplace" jobs (for lack of a better term) such as maintaining the home. So no, it's not accurate because there are many, many people who have given up looking. Either way, increased benefits have nothing to do with the number other than it pays some people for longer to sit on their ***. from http://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_htgm.htm "Some people think that to get these figures on unemployment, the Government uses the number of persons filing claims for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits under State or Federal Government programs. But some people are still jobless when their benefits run out, and many more are not eligible at all or delay or never apply for benefits. So, quite clearly, UI information cannot be used as a source for complete information on the number of unemployed." I repeat...Fail. Thanks for playing. the article still says the bulk of the information comes from filings. The rest by surveying seems supplemental. what is your answer Andrew? deregulate wallstreet and the banks? maybe cut taxes on the wealthy? |

All I'm saying is that it is obvious that the sky is blue. Think of it this way-- note how many of the same people who rant about tort reform for medical malpractice act exactly like the medical malpractice attorneys themselves vis-a-vis Obama's presidency. They won't admit it's a complex situation that could be expensive to fix and is not without risks, yet they are out for the pound of flesh from the people who are trying. Even in malpractice proceedings, the plantiff's attorneys always stress that the doctors aren't criminals, only possibly negligent. In the case of Obama, you don't even see _that_. The Far Right likes to see Obama as part of what one author likes to term "The Muslim Mafia." -Kerry O. |

You state "his stated views on the Constitution deeply concern me" How about when Republican Minority Leader JOHN BOEHNER was speaking at a recent Tea Bagger rally at the Capitol, was holding a copy of the CONSTITUTION in his hand and then misquotes it....starts quoting the Declaration of Independence! Now if President Obama had done that, I am sure you guys and FOX would have been all over him!! |

ya well go figure its obviously gonna be trail and error when ur tryin to find some new way to do business...it seems kinda funny to hold one man responsible for a nations dilemma... Between my company and personal finance it took quite a few tries to set up a method that's really functional....I imagine our nations budget is quite a bit more complicated it seems as if people either want to give obama total fault or credit for the outcome... I don't think he's personally responsible for alot of the writing or even creation of alot of these ideas ...I'm sure he's told what the intention of the main bill is without calling attention to the many underwritings writted into bills...it seems he's approving and backing ideas... Unfortunately alot of ideas only work on paper I'm sorry, but guess and check is not a proper way to run a nation. What we had before worked, whether you thought it fair or not (because it wasn't. That was the beauty of it) and what we are headed to is a failure of epic proportions. I hope people can start to see just how empty all his promises of hope and change really were. Sure, the GDP rose and the stock market is up, but check out just about every other indicator and nothing has become any better. I guess if you lie to yourself enough, eventually you start to believe it. I'm not so sure what we had going before was any more effective... The deficit is huge and didn't happen overnight... The ony way to fix things is to try some stuff... So trying and seeing the effect is exactly how to run a country over continuing a failing system... In the past things may have ran ok with a flawed system but a system that runs under less than ideal conditions is needed...finding a result that weans progress againsts the nations debt and for the economy is vital in my opinion |

Seems like government health care works for almost EVERY other country.... You know how many bankruptcy claims they have due to medical....0 we have tons...... And as far as ur statement that working people have inscurance... There are plenty that don't..... Losing your health is often sudden and unexpected so an I'm healthy don't worry about it attitude is stupid I'm so happy I didn't vote for this guy.If I had I would feel like I would have to throw myself in jail for what he has done to this country. |

All I'm saying is that it is obvious that the sky is blue. what on God's green earth does his being black have to do with anything?? "...the content of his character, not the color of his skin..." (sound familiar?) I think the post about his race was relevant because as a HISTORIC president, he is being watched more closely and by more around the world. By nature of him being a FIRST,,,kind of like Tiger Woods... Same thing would be true if Hilary had won as the first Female President. all presidents are historic.. maybe that's the difference in the way I think compared to that of many others.. Ok, so he's (part) black.. He's also part white.. big deal. we're over it now what concerns me is that he's ALL American.. and no, that's not a birth certificate reference.. What I mean is, Is he all-in for America? his stated views on the Constitution deeply concern me Raider, you are tooo funny Bro! Now if President Obama had done that, I am sure you guys and FOX would have been all over him!! what's one got to do witht the other? really? Obama's views on the Constitution are verrrry disconcerting.. His views on the role of the court are even more disturbing.. Why do you keep changing the subject? |
