If ya' can't chase 'em back to Mexico, hire 'em.

One of the benefits of high unemployment is being able to pay less for temporary workers.

The street corners are jam-packed with Illegals looking for day work. A person or company needing a hand for a day or two can now get labor for $45.00 to $50.00 a day. Used to have to pay $80.00 or better. With unemployment rising, they may be able to be hired for less and you don't have to worry about them complaining about not getting minimum wage.

Thank you, Liberals for the cheap labor!

Gosh, in my city, this has been going on for eons, both legitimately and under the table. I've been to construction sites where builders snag aliens to build custom homes and pay out of pocket for forever. I've also seen where ones with green cards get a paycheck not at all equal to their citizen counterparts, and builders who get draws from the bank for payroll as if they were paying fully to their employees, but pocketing large portions. This goes much farther and deeper than just getting away with cheap alien labor.

And now, they can be gotten for way less than last year.

I've been trying to make sense of giving Amnesty to up to 20 Million Illegals including gang members.

Now, it makes sense. Drives labor costs down and increases profits.

Flood the market with amnestized workers we can't put to work and make room for another generation of Illegals.

You won't find workers who have rights at the Day Labor areas.

I see a growing trend too. Honestly though, more jobs are lost to automation and outsourcing. I just wish people werent so blind as to be thinking with their heart instead of their head on this one. This labor is exploited , but because it helps them feed their family,, many are all for their presence here.

Sorry, but I will never go for the caving in like a coward crap. Just hired a company to redo my roof, one of them was way too far behind in his language skills, along with a few of the other tell tale signs, made a remark to the boss, bye bye buddy, back to the border. Yep, I make a POINT of busting out ALL criminals and cleaning them the hell out of my "space", where ever that may be. I take my "personal space" with me where ever I go.
Maybe there are those who will roll over like dead dogs, but no one I know. We wouldn't be able to face ourselves in the mirror with the shame of that lazy cowardice. And no, really wouldn't want to associate with people that were lame enough that their consciences (or should I say lack of) could let them sleep at night hiring these criminals instead of legal Americans.

Ya get what ya pay for.

All I can say is that when dad has the time to do odd jobs and repair work, he makes decent money fixing all of the mistakes that the day labor/ cheap labor screws up to begin with. Many of these jobs were jobs he'd originally bid on, that he didn't get because he was too "expensive". Now he ends up charging twice the amount, to fix what they screwed up on, plus the work.

The mexicans that lived next door to me back in Washington did a huge remodeling job on their house. He went to college in mexico for his buiding credentials, so, he is "educated", by the standards of that country.
Now, remembering the location...
NO INSULATION (in Washington state the temps go below freezing in the winter) but lots of skylights, so any heat they have is going right out through those lame panes they used.
The job that was supposed to take 6 months is now in its third year, and his wife is still out in the back yard using a utility sink to do her dishes etc. Yeah, toilet out there too, but laying on its side along with the rest of the trash.
Sure, I could go on with plenty of other examples of their workmanship LOL But I think that gives a pretty good clue of what you can expect.

folks around here are used to the illegals. They have been around for a hundred years back and forth across the border. They come up and work in the oilfield during the summer and go home for the winter. no big deal

I was watching a couple of em working remodeling an old adobe house. They had to take out an adobe wall that had been standing for prolly a hundred years. They were using barb wire to cut through the wall. they just wrapped each end of the barb wire around a stick and then just pulled it back and forth through the wall. worked like a knife through butter

I asked the mexican that I was talking to where they got the barb wire. He pointed out the window and said "see that fence out there?"

Unemployment for the U.S is rising, more people are being laid off everyday, but we are supposed to be concerned with how cheap we hire illegals? umm...seems a little off kilter. Personally I think they are ILLEGAL ummm meaning they are BREAKING THE LAW? correct? but hardly anyone sees it that way anymore, they have the attitude that 'well they have always been around soo...' well yes so have many other criminals(because that is what they are) but I'm sure you don't want the nearest prison to announce to you that they are taking down there walls and they are just going to roam free because 'they have always been here'

Give the jobs to the citizens, I have no problem with immigration(if they do it legally) have just as many rights as Naturally born U.S citizens. But to many bleeding hearts and too many people worried about 'offending' someone. Guess what this NATION was BUILT on offending people, people believed they had a right to believe whatever they wanted and went and BUILT a nation where they could do just that. Do you think they offended anyone in the process? ummmm...YEP! but now with all the bleeding hearts it seems that we are apologizing for being America....Does anyone have any pride left in this country?

There are 2 reasons why our government tolerates illegals.

1. Our politicians are beholden to the people that poured millions of dollars into their campaigns and got them elected.

2. The majority of illegals are young and uneducated. When legalized, they will provide a source of tax revenue, union revenue and pay into social security.

It has nothing to with compassion or embracing our immigrant tradition.

It is about money...

this thing of "they take jobs that Americans don't want" is turning out to be false too

after the recent Tyson raids (300 something illegals busted and deported) the resulting job vacancies were filled within weeks AND the average hourly pay went up by three or four bucks an hour

And this is what bothers me. People who call it "no big deal". Sorry, but I couldn't possibly disagree more. I teach my kids to put an end to BS BEFORE it escalates. That is why anyone who would hire an illegal, or even not report a known one, will never get my respect, only contempt.

ahh but you don't live on the border. We have been able to cross back and forth with impunity for a hundred years. Its just a way of life here

BULL! RFLMFAO Born and raised in Seattle, WASHINGTON. More than one border, which narrow minded people frequently forget. Not only do we get those from the south, they come from the north, and the west, even Russia! Seattle seems to be a town that so many think is so liberal that they will put up with anything. Remember the "boat people"? They got $10,000 per head, cash, for whatever. For years those that live in the area have been shaking their heads at the way the politicians try to look so progressive, while they damned the legitimate citizens.
And, in case you hadn't heard, the illegals have been drifting up and down the coast from Mexico to come after the apple harvest for as long as I have been alive, and yeah, every year they have been hated by the locals that they take the jobs from. This is nothing new to that state at all.
