Of course this is extremely hypothetical....

If the torture and horrible death of you, would create

universal peace, would you be willing to walk away from

your life, your partner, your children not knowing what was

to happen to you....only that the end result would be a peaceful

universe once you had taken your last breath?

john lennon triedflowerforyou

yes, he did...and 30 years later look at the impact he still has on the world... and last year he generated 8 million , not as much as Elvis...

ok, lets change this a bit.....
There is some conflict over being tortured and dying a horrible death. How about just a bullet to the head instead...instant death..no horrific death.
Just your life for universal peace forever....
Would that be easier to do?

So the manner of death isn't really the issue at all?

Pain is relative and nothing would be more worth my life than such an act. Now world peace is good and all, but its not indefinite (*note, I see now you do say forever, tho my view remains unchanged). How about to vanquish all evil on Earth? Cuz there can be world peace and still terrible issues within a nation, a business, peoples, etc. I vote to remove evil... hard to have a war without evilflowers

I would first need proof of an iron clad garantee, with a time frame of how long this peace would last and some way to inforce it after I'm gone...then yes.

Yes, however I see a higher chance of world peace through complete-evil-eradication rather than no evil through complete-world-peace. Hehe, maybe thats dreaming a lil too big!

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one.

I've risked my life for a lot less meaningful things.

i'm a couple notches away from being suicidal most of the time anyhoo.

i'd gladly do it. death is a fact of life. it's gonna happen anyway... might as well do it for a good cause.

no way because world peace will never last long and giving my life would be pointless

If i was to give my live i'd give it on my feet fighting for those I cared for and loved. I would not lay my life down for world peace, but for someone dear to me I would.

I would give my life for my fellow man...

but only if I was assured Bruce Willis would play me in a movie about my struggle.

Otherwise it's just no damn fun.

It would have to be more than just universal peace. People would also have to stop being a-holes to each other, no more lies, no more cheating, no more thievery, no more vandalism. If they could accomplish that, then yes I would crucify myself.

My problem would be with the 'guarantee'. But assuming you could convince me that it would be guaranteed and lasting peace, then yes.
