Topic: How sad

I'm sitting here holding a dog that has been sick for a week.
I don't think he will make much longer(through the night) and the vet agrees. The owners are being selfish because they won't just let him go. I had to make the choice to let my Dad go. It wasn't easy, but it was the right thing to do.

My question is, if you had to make the horrible choice of letting go of someone or something that you loved, would you? Or would you be selfish?

If he is in pain..you have to let him go and be unselfish...I think.

Yes, I would let them go. I have been in this position with my Dad and you can't be selfish. That is not love!

I was in that situation with my great grandma she was the one who raised me and ultimately if you love someone or something enough you do whats best for them and if they are in pain that would be letting them go its best for them even if it is hard for you at least there are always the memories.

this dog is sufferring and if you are the advocate or decision maker...
it goes like this. the dog should be at the vet's now, and it is time for euthanasia. ask them to give the dog a sedative, and then, they put a port in it's leg, and administer a pink liquid called sodium barbithal.
the dog gets sleepy and in a matter of minutes it goes to sleep. it happens in less than 5 minutes, and the sufferring is over. it is very tragic if you watch it. someone needs to hold the dog so he/she won't be afraid or restless. that is very calming for the dog.

i suggest you don't watch/and then grieve with these people. they love the dog. holding on is all they have now. u must guide them. it hurts to love a dog you love. it is the same with people, but this is a dog not a person.
assisted suicide is still the same. dog or person.

I've had to do it. It was both the easiest and the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I'm sorry for the painful sutuation you're in.

Not letting go of someone or something you love is selfish on your part...let those in pain go there is no reason to make them suffer longer.

I've been in similar situations several times and have always put the animal down. I just can't stand to see them suffer

This is heart-breaking. I've had to make the decison to let many animals go. It is a gut wrenching to let them go, but the decision to end their suffering was a no-brainer for me. I just wouldn't be able to watch them suffer knowing I could end it for them. Hope the owners come around here and do the humane thing.

I wasn't meaning you yourself was being selfish..just in gerneral if you make someone hang on for your own needs..that's selfish.
