A demand for more Illegals.

Corporate America doesn't want Legal Workers. Legal workers have rights. Taxes, Workers Comp and SS has to be paid for them.

You can thank the Democrats and republicans who we keep sending back to Washington. They do a piss poor job then get rewarded by being re-elected so they think they are doing a good job and with that we will never have change!

I agree that granting amesty to illegal largely promotes illegal immigration..

Just look at the rates since the Reagan Amnesty..

Not only is the blanket assertion that "corporate America" doesn't want legal labor just patently false.. It's uninformed and shows your ignorance..

I've been exposed to enough of the corporate hiring process to know that the last question they ask before "when can you start?" is "Are you legal to work in the United States?"..

Yes, there are businesses that take advantage of the illegal labor pool. But by and large those aren't corporate, i.e. publicly traded, entities. They are mostly small, privately held, independent companies.. with the possible exception of the independent and small- to medium-chain and restaurants and some sectors in agriculture. most, I dare say, of the illegals who are "employed" work for independent contractors in construction, landscaping, house cleaning, , etc, odd job day laborers, tire & mechanic shops.. menial manual labor jobs that don't require a high degree of education..

"Corporate America" isnt the problem...

Some companies, many in fact, do hire illegals.. but it's only a supply and demand thing.. There is a large supply of comparatively cheap labor. So the demand for it has grown.

If we took the two-pronged approach of limiting the supply (i.e. enforcing the immigration laws at BOTH borders) and limiting the demand (i.e. enforcing existing labor laws on those companies that exploit illegal labor), we'd go a long way toward putting the brakes on the massive influx of illegals..

They hire Illegals all the way from pickers to processors.
There is still a big influx of Illegals into New Orleans. American workers and Legal Migrant workers could be doing the rebuilding.

We have very few jobs that are called"Industry" It's gone because of Greed in high places--Politics and polititions--- the EPA and just plain stupidity. Gone to places like China. Last week, a freind called a few licensed contractors for bids to put in a cement floor for a patio. The bids ran from $2,500.00 to $4,000.00, just for labor.

He went to the street corner where the Illegal Day Workers hang out, got four skilled cement workers and got his patio finished for $400.00, a few balogna sandwiches and sodas. At the end of the job, 2 days, he gave them a ride back to the border.

The licensed contractors probably supervised all the work and would be on the premises if a cement floor is put in, the real labor would have been done by illegals.

My freind did the supervising. The American was cut out all together.

Lets risk enforcing the laws and see what happens? They are here, get used to it didnt work for drugs and it doesnt quite work for me either. The war on drugs,,incarcerated approximately half million people this year at a cost of roughly 8 billion. I think we can find a way to come up with a one way trip for thirty million(by these threads, possibly only half of that even.). Lets initiate a War on Illegal Entry.

To answer the title of the thread, a whole lot of Americans buying more guns and ammo to protect themselves, since the govt won't. Did you notice how the stats on the sales skyrocketed after obamadolf rigged the election?

We, as individual Americans cannot protect ourselves from da' Government. I don't really see any type of organized defense against an out-of control Gov. We are sorely outgunned.
