Is love a need or a desire? It's like a stegosaurus -- it would be nice to have but it doesn't seem to exist anymore.... There is something that keeps people together or at least they keep trying in many cases to find love. If the word love is outdated what new word would you use? |

I can only speak from personal experience -- I have no clue what keeps other people together. All I can tell you is that all of the people who claimed to "love" me were, in the end, totally dishonest. I see little point in looking for something that has been repeatedly proven to be nothing more than a deception, at best. |

Maybe not time to give up yet |

Everyone has a love for something or someone. Love is a natural emotion. I believe it is a need. |

Romantic love is a desire, not a need; you won't die without it- even though many people have convinced themselves otherwise. There's a difference in affection and love, as someone pointed out about babies who do not thrive without affection. I can give someone physical affection without love, I don't even have to like them. I used to work as a substitute teacher and a daycare worker and I was affectionate with the children as far as giving hugs and praise, but that doesn't constitute love, of course. It was simply human compassion.
I agree that many people need to feel a part of a group, whether it's family, friends or some organization, but this is not love, not by my definition anyway. It's more of a need of acceptance and belonging to something larger than yourself, but no, I do not believe love is a need. |

Is love a need or a desire? Well it might be a desire but if I ever get where I don't have that desire you might as well pull the plug on my needs because there is nothing left of me but a shell. |
