Since it changed for me every year, I don't remember what was the last one. I wanted to be a secretary, nurse, model, jockey..lol, princess, philanthropist, etc...
I ended up working for the government and then being disabled so I did not reach any of the dreams...lol But I am not dissatisfied at all. My life has been good and is good today even with all the struggles. There are no complaints from me. Life is good. |

Writing is my passion - my love - for nearly four decades. It is the air I breathe. All the things I thought might have been difficult in life really ended up easier, career, success and so on. And finding a soulmate - which I naively once thought might be easier - ended up quite the challenge! But I continue my quest...every day! Surely God must laugh when he hears us plan!

What did you want to be when you grew up???? Are you that now??? Do you feel what you do for work today is your "calling"? & Why or why not? When I was growing up I want to be a police officer. No Yes what I do for work today is my calling. I work with the elderly in a nursing facility that has dementia and alzheimer's. Working on becoming a CNA. Why is because I feel the need to help other people who really need the help. |

I've actually done quite a few different things in my life. I've worked retail, driven truck, worked security (my favorite job was working night security in the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.), been the calf raiser on a dairy farm, worked as a CNA, sized and sorted natural sausage casings (YUK), and now I drive bus in addition to working at a convenience store. My dream job when I was a kid was being a dairy farmer, and I have worked on a dairy farm, both doing milking and raising calves. That only lasted about 8 months, and the dairy where I worked is now shut down, but it was my second favorite job ever. All in all, I have done more and seen more than most women my age, and I am quite satisfied. This isn't the life I would have preferred when I was younger, but I don't think that I would go back and change it. As far as one definite calling, I think some of us are destined to do lots of different things to fill in where other peoples' callings don't quite fill the gaps in life. Maybe I'm one of those people.

Funny when I was growing up the things I wanted was not so much as what I wanted to do or be as far as work. Yeppiers I thought more on the part of getting married having that white picket fence and kids and just making a good life nothing big... As I got older I wanted to do something that involved working around people. Then even later I wanted to be a P.I.
Did I make that no I have taken some Criminal Justices Classes which only got me more interested in the field. Due to many reasons I never finished the degree. But even if I never do, the jobs I have worked I actually did enjoy them and felt I did the best I could. Maybe they were not my calling but through those jobs I have learned a lot more about people which would help me if I ever do decided to finish what I had started.... To me no matter what you do today all that matters is you are where you are and your happy with whom you have become....... |

What did you want to be when you grew up???? Are you that now??? Do you feel what you do for work today is your "calling"? & Why or why not? But anyways, mine changed yearly as well. I found a book I had written in first grade .. proclaiming I wanted to be a cowgirl and go to Penn State University (the most known college has a young child in the state of PA) Later, I wanted to be a teacher. Then I wanted to work as a daycare teacher. Then I wanted to own my own shop. Sadly, I am just a receptionist. But I'm only 21 .. I've got plenty of time to become a cowgirl! =] |

What did you want to be when you grew up???? Are you that now??? Do you feel what you do for work today is your "calling"? & Why or why not? I wanted to be the Wife and Mother part of a big inner-generational family that lived close together shareing and working together. No most of my family is scattered. Am I doing my calling? Actually I think I am. I love what I am doing now and I think it must be contributeing because the feed back is very positive and it feels like I am making a difference. |

I never thought of a job as my "calling".
The career I seek I believe may be called that, but in the meantime, I obviously am not meant to do the career of my choice.. So I suppose my "calling" is whatever I have to do right now. Im not at the point where I have the luxury or doing what I would like to make money, and I figure a calling is where you help people in some way jmo. I guess I fullfill my "calling" outside of work right now by helping others in my community. |
