Whatever it's original intent was, it is far from that now. It's all about commercialism, ad revenue, merchandising, and $ $ $ ! Let's make some more pagan holidays for people to throw their money at.

I miss when they used to have harvest parties around Halloween. Was fun when people cleaned out their barn or garage or even stacked bales in a circle and had everybody over for a party.

Didn't realy matter what age you were, or if you took your kids along, nobody had to get drunk or act stupid or break the bank with some stupid store bought costume. Most the food, includeing candy, was homemade and people actually waited on themselves or at least thanked those who did.

I am sure there was some romanceing in the back seat of parked cars or out in the moon light but decent people used enough self control to be respectable.

Now seems like people define party as a free for all. No limits and to heck with the consequences. Kind of makes you feel like you are sending your self or your kids to a contest or even a battle ground rather than anything fun.

The story of Halloween! scared

On October 31st all of the undead return to earth -- because hell does not have candy! tears

These creatures stalk the streets, seeking candy and chocolate through out the night. scared

In order to blend in with the zombies, ghosts, vampires, and monsters, the living must dress like the undead -- to fool them -- in order to survive the night! winking

This is why we celebrate Halloween!

whoa Thanks for dissing my religion! slaphead

Wiccan's do not celebrate "Halloween" but this is the season of The Mabon. The Autumn Equinox: The leaves begin to turn from green to brilliant reds and yellows, animals start to migrate, and the harvest is underway by the time of the autumn equinox.

There are 8 Pagan holidays and none of them have to do with the myth of Halloween and turning people into toads or generating revenue based on religious fear and ignorance. slaphead
