flowerforyou  This is to all my dear friends, Even the male
ones that need held up once in a while..
I don't know who wrote this...

In my "real world" circle of female friends...I often share with them
something
that is exptremely dear to me. That being, there is a known fact that is
quite
unique and inspiring in the animal kingdom - the bond of female
elephants.

All female elephants, whether they are the matriarch or a quiet member
of the
herd, are truly the protectors and the nurturers. When one of the female
elephants falls ill to either disease, attack, or simply old age....she
cannot
lay down to rest, as her weight is so burdensome she will likely either
"crush"
herself or "smother" because she cannot sustain her own weight's impact.

All the other females in the herd will gather around the ill elephant
and form a
circle of loving protection...allowing her to lean against them for
support and
comfort. They often take turns holding her up, bringing her food and
water, but
the circle is NEVER broken until the she is either healed or eventually
dies.
They will NEVER let her fall nor lay down while in their care. It has
been
documented that this act of total unselfishness has sometimes taken
months...even years...until the eventual outcome is revealed for the
ailing
female. If the female elephant does perish, they stay with her until her
body
has taken its natural course, and then either the matriarch or a sibling
of the
dead elephant, will gather a few of her bones and they will be carried
with the
herd FOREVER.

In my life, I can easily equate this theory to so many of my female
friendships.
Often times, I have had to be the one "standing in the
middle"...allowing others
to support and care for me, when I could not handle things alone. Other
times, I
am part of the unit forming the circle around someone who is "hurting"
or
"woeful". When I have lost a member of my female "unit"...I, too, carry
a small
"bone" of hers in my soul...always remembering and never forgetting what
she
meant to me. I feel honored to have their trust...their unconditional
friendship...their unequalled support, as only they can provide

To have a circle you speak of is truly a miracle in these times. I am
thankful for the strength the women in my life have given me. They are
what hold this man together.
