Okay, I am late on this topic (as usual).
Others have mentioned, but I feel the need reiterate. The US Armed Forces are a VOLUNTEER force. Because of people like Peacekeeper, there is no longer a draft. He is supporting each and every one of us (in the US). If he is involved in a conflict we may not agree with, he is doing his job. And with the talk of re-enlistment, what about those who do their time, put in for retirement and are denied? A good friend has his Reserve time in (20 years) and put in for retirement. Guess what? Denied. He is back to drilling and expects to be sent overseas shortly. Not once has he complained, he signed up and plans to serve his country as long as they want him. Where was his bonus??? Anyway, enough ranting. Peacekeeper, I thank you for serving. |

What a wonderful world it be if only we thought only what kariz thought,
and lived only as he told us to. we could all march in step to his drum. and woe to those who don't because you don't want to piss off a peace lover. it might end up being your head he bangs on that wall. to think he hates soooooo much a country that allows him to spew his venom. wonder how well that would go over in say, nazi germany or the old ussr or in that righteous country of iraq or for that matter china? your turn kariz. i'm ready for your profanity laced tirade. |

A few points there, Hangedman in regards to KariZ,
* I haven't heard once, a direct reference to hating the US...so, with the preciousness, and the wolf-like verocity shown to someone who objects strongly to war, and to the destruction of the planet,IN GENERAL, seems a lot of objection and personalising of words here... ... a tiny sense of responsibility showing there??? Otherwise why the reactionary, 'quick grab the flag' mentality? * There are other nationalities invited to this site, as it is in the plans, to go international, and KariZ is quite comfortable growling at any who advocate destruction of life, human, or otherwise.... ....imagine that, all these other countries, all these other nationalities, expressing their veiws....won't that be exciting? The US is ONE of the bad guys...NOT the only one...but if you want to accept responsibility for all of it...be my guest... *You will find if you read more of the other threads further back, there are many nationalities disgruntled with their own governments...the British, the Australian, the Canadian...you see we aren't afraid to express our distaste with our own politicians and their stupid Bills, and Laws they pass, and the sticking in of their noses, in countries they didn't need to go to, in hostility, and war.. |

Jess i'm not not trying to bash Kariz, It just seems to me that for as
much as he professes peace he's carrying a ton of anger that strikes me as odd. And I just don't see how blowing up at the ppl who serve in the military or who have a different opinion helps anything. Didn't mean to offend you or him. Just tired and after all the other stuff from last nite got sick of the screaming and ranting. So yeah i went and did a bit of my own. makes sense doesn't it? |
|
|
|
Jess, did you say your son is a soldier in the war?
|
|
|
|
being vehemently ANGRY is a natural and appropriate response to the
ridiculous waste of life !!!! i am as angry as he is!!! and if i were not so angry , then i would be very worried |

Yes he is Lily, and for the longest time I was horrified...and
ashamed... That the upbringing and the values he was raised with, were cast aside. He has completed one tour as a peacekeeping force, and the man returned to us, his family, was not the man, that left.... He saw horros that he still has trouble speaking of...and it is in the darkest of the morning's hours that my phone rings... He went, as a defaince, and rebellion, of all that he had been exposed to in his short life... He went looking for a 'Male', a 'Father', within the army...and he came home with shame, at what he thought it was to be a man.. He now spends thewithin the services, last of his committment, working towards paramedics, and rescue service training, to return to these countries, not as a soldier, but as an aid worker... "To rebuild, and to serve, in a way that is productive, and constructive to humanity, not destructive." His words, not mine... |

Is it possible that I sense male bashing? Lee, are you telling me that
all your son found in the military was a bunch of hairy goons overdosing on testosterone? I find it hard to believe of what I have come to greatly respect and admire in you but it sure seems that way. Steve |

Zap, male bashing??? Where do you get that from?
I am repeating my son's words....not mine...mine were the whole shame I felt when my son informed me that he had joined the military.. He went thinking that the army would provide him with the male balance he had not received, as a child growing in a single parent family, with a mother raising him.. I know this, because I asked him his reasons...to better understand them. He returned from his tour, and from his training, understanding, that what he had 'projected', as 'male' would look like...was not it for him... I have zero contempt for men...zero, I do not separate the genders, into boxes, it would be a disservice to my sons, and a poor example for my daughters... |

Thanks Lee. I was right about being wrong.
