What do you do each day to contribute to universal peace? Are you a peaceful person yourself? What kind of spiritual and personal growth to you want? What does that mean to you? How can you have peace of mind? What can you do to have peace of mind? What do you do each day towards peace of mind? |

Jess642, If your desire is to experience everything, how can you expect to live a 'calm' life? Can you experience every trial and tribulation and also be calm? What do you do daily to authentically be who you are? How do you stuff experience into your day and also experience calm and solace in a place that is a safe refuge and haven? How can you be both "safe" and experience life and its trials and tribulations? Details please. |

if i'm still breathing i'm happy. as far as what is important for me to see from others? fairness in thought. jrbogie Fairness in thought? What do you mean by that? i mean that whatever conclusions we come to, fairness is the upermost criteria. for instance, you are on a jury and they bring the accused in wearing an orange jump suit in hand cuffs and you might think, "now there's a guy who's obviously guilty. look at him, he even looks like a felon. and besides, the police arrested him didn't they?" this would not be a conclusion you came to using fairness in thought. had you been fair you'd understand that this man is innocent until you've observed and listened to the evidence, debated the case with your fellow jurors and voted to convict him. were everybody to apply this thinking in reaching any conclusion racism would be irradicated, crime would for the most part cease to exist, there would be no need for war. i could fill pages with the benefits. in an above post you asked ladydid what would have to happen to acheive universal peace. this would do it. |

It is nice to wish for fairness in thought and an end to prejudice and I believe that if you want this, the only way is to begin by examining your own prejudices. (And we all have them) I knew a little old lady who thought just the way you describe. That a person in an orange jump suit was probably guilty. He had been arrested and he was in court after all. Then, her son got in trouble and he was innocent. She was on the other end of that scene, not on the jury, but hoping for justice for her son. Her experience changed her thinking and she became a person who would have been an excellent juror. We learn by experience. That is the only way to really learn sometimes. |

It is nice to wish for fairness in thought and an end to prejudice and I believe that if you want this, the only way is to begin by examining your own prejudices. (And we all have them) of course. everybody means me too. i only have control over my own thoughts. I knew a little old lady who thought just the way you describe. That a person in an orange jump suit was probably guilty. He had been arrested and he was in court after all. Then, her son got in trouble and he was innocent. She was on the other end of that scene, not on the jury, but hoping for justice for her son. Her experience changed her thinking and she became a person who would have been an excellent juror.
i actually thought of the example as i recalled a conversation several family members were having over thanksgiving dinner. we were discussing the oj trial and my brothers wife related a story where she was picked for a jury. the orange jumpsuit dude was the accused. i related as best i could her exact words. this is a veteran high school social studies teacher. she's teaching our future government leaders. We learn by experience. That is the only way to really learn sometimes.

intelligent people learn by experience.
When we don't learn from our experiences, (and mistakes) we tend to repeat them over and over and over.... until we do. This is why some people's lives seem to be in a rut or seem to go in circles. They are not learning from their experiences. They will not move forward until they do. |

definition of insanity?

definition of insanity? No, I don't think so. I think we are just asleep and some of us have not woke up very much. Most people are sleep walking and clueless and distracted with the business of just trying to survive. |

I think insanity is a person who "checks out" of reality mentally because they can't deal with responsibility, reality and their own fear.
People are terrified. |
