...for the last couple of nights, I have been totally hooked on a PBS Documentary by Ken Burns called The National Parks : America's Best Idea.
Anyone who hasn't seen the first couple of episodes should try to catch the rest of it. It tells the stories of how the parks came into being, the people behind the ideas. Ken Burns has an innate ability to tell the real stories behind things and keep them very entertaining and interesting. I have seen a couple of his other documentaries ( Ken Burns' : Baseball being my absolute favorite ) and I have to say that I think he is one of the greatest documentary makers ever. |

Thanks for the heads up. Some TV can be redundant so nice to hear when something is extra noteworthy.

Thanks for the heads up. Some TV can be redundant so nice to hear when something is extra noteworthy. Anything by him is FAR from being redundant. In my opinion, he is one of our ages greatest storytellers. Here are a couple of YouTube links that show the Intro and a part of the first episode of the Civil War documentary he did a few years ago. Civil War : Intro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1QRXtEBiYI&feature=fvw 7 minutes of Episode 6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfF-DoSx4MM&feature=related |

Thanks for that info..I don't care for TV, if I do watch it would be a good documentary. Oh by all means...check you local PBS station listings for what time the series is on. It's on at 10pm here...but I caught the re show of it at 1am on Sunday night and got hooked. I was completely exhausted after work Monday night and went to lie down on the couch and watch tv....wound up watching the documentary. |

Oh! It's a 12 hour documentary...so there should be at least 4 more nights of it.
Well worth watching. |

I debated on watching that. Might have to check it out. I almost always love the PBS documentaries. The one about the kids from Apalachia was outstanding.
