Hi everybody, I just want to pass on some information I have found out recently. Scammers are everywhere. Please be very careful and never agree to send someone money, cash checks or money orders, or reship merchandise. If you want to know more about what I a talking about, just drop me an email and I will give you the resources I have found.
Why am I even posting this topic? Because last week I almost fell victim to a scam. The person claimed to be here in the states working, but after several suspicious comments and other things that pointed to the likelihood that I was dealing with a scammer. Well, I finally ran the IP address and to my surprise the emails had orginated out of Nigeria and my dream man was a scammer. If you want to know how to obtain an IP address or any other questions, I will answer the best I can. If you need resources and links, then drop me an email. Let's all be safe and keep our money in our pockets. Faith: |

I have heard from a couple that sure sounded like scammers on Mingle.
One said he was Native American and abused child. Now he was supposed to be a horse breeder and a therapist for Bill Gates treatment center for abused children. Even claimed to have an asthmatic teenage son that would get on the computer and talk about playing in a famouse band. Supposedly the kid got sick on a trip to check out getting a job here in California. The second that tried to pass himself off as a car dealer out of San Francisco that shipped cars to England and then to Acra, Africa. He supposedly got stranded to pay extra registration fees. The common thread is these guys is they read your profile see what will push your buttons and then always have some sort of problem that if you loan them money on the short time that they will pay you back and then some so you can go forward being soulmates. How they have enough time to write long effusive letters I am not sure but you pay attention at all you can tell they trade off. They invariably ask you to call them at a hotel. Or to send them a phone card because they can't make personal calls on the company nickle . What some try to do is reroute your phone call where they rack up thousands of long didtance calls against your bill. Because you have made the call the phone company will get their money Thing is if it sounds too good to be true; it is. There are very few perfect matches unless they read your profile and posts and then they become Prince Charming. Or in the reverse gals conning unsuspecting guys into helping get away from and abusive ex, a sick kid, sexual harrassment on the job. What guy doesn't like the idea of being Cinderella's Hero? |

The Nigerian scammer that I was in contact with was not from Mingle2. In fact, he came up as a match on a paid site. One of the moderators told me this morning that I am not supposed to give the names of the websites, which is why I suggested that people email me if they wanted to know more. Especially if they want to know about the support group that I have found for victims of romance scams. I am so glad to read the posts that tell me not everyone is as naive as I have been recently. But now I know and was simply passing on info to anyone is an unsuspecting person as I was. Faith

Thank you. It doesn't take a stupid person to fall prey to these characters. It's their craft and they're usually good at what they do...the bastards.

Scammers are easy to spot.all it takes is to ask them one question
"How are you doing?" a scammers response will always be either "not good" or "sad" and then they go into detail about being stranded in Africa or they lost a relative or something like that.i usually find 2-3 a week on different sites |
