i don't know why this is an issue. It's a non profit group that wants to get The TRUTH about our religion out to the public and not have it filtered by hate groups and the media that want to demonize us.

Screwed up minds see it as an issue because of the propaganda of the Administration and the media about Islam and the relationship between G.W. Bush war on terror and Islam . Too much negative propaganda about anything just makes people follow this propaganda .

No one demonized you. I just thought this was interesting. Most of the times you hear of a group going to the capitol it's to protest something. They are going there for a day of prayer and to let people see more about their religion. As I said in a previous post I can't recall that happening before.

I certainly do not want to demonize people, but I sure wish that the core beliefs of both Christianity and Islam weren't the take over of the whole world with their brand of 'control'. I don't even care what people want to personally believe but when they believe that our whole world must be governed by their rituals and their God, that irritates the hell out of me. And especially when neither religion can prove the existence of their god.

And please remember that both religions have demonized anyone that didn't believe as they did, and then wonder why after so much time others defy them.

Not all Muslims and Christians try to push religion on everyone. It's sad to see such hatred for people because of a few that are extreme and don't fall in with the majority.
What harm is it if they do something legally for all that want to see something about their relgion? Who knows maybe some will learn something.

All this talk from progressives about hope and change yet they want to oppress certain groups. You can change all you want but as long as groups are left out do things really change? Or has it just gone half way around the circle again?

Just folks having a Day of Prayer.

Nothing special.

Extremists of any faction disturb me though.

Traditional Islam consider both Jew and Christian as 'People of the Book' and are to be considered as friends.

Cultural and Political differences have changed this relationship.

I read about this, didn't think anything of it. Islam is a peaceful, loving, spiritual religion, and those who live it have gotten a really bad reputation because of the extremist actions of a few. What I find hypocritical is that when extremist Christians become violent, while it's maybe not "ok," it is more "acceptable" and the whole religion is not villified. Christians have wreaked more havoc over the course of history than any other group.

A day of peace and prayer isn't going to kill anyone and this is a way for people who can open their minds long enough to maybe learn a little something about people who may be "different." Though, if anyone actually bothers to read past the political rhetoric, they would find that Islam and Christianity are far closer ideologically than they may care to admit.

Some of my best friends and family members are Muslim and they are some of the most caring, generous, tolerant and good people I know.

Tj, I sure hope you aren't referring to me. I am the last person to what to stop this event. In fact if it is televised I will watch it. I hope you don't assume that because someone is concerned about the underlying aim of a religion, that they wish to ban the personal beliefs themselves. But if the ultimate goal is to convert the world, I am against that, because when that is the aim, all those that to not share those beliefs are at risk from those religious leaders that have that very intent and will stop at nothing to further that goal.

We can not go one being naive about those ultimate goals. If religion is about peace and acceptance and inclusion I am fine with it, but it is not when it comes to it's leaders and too many of it's supporters.

I wonder if you have you not read the the ultimate goals of both religions? I have.

I do care about hope and change. I hope that religious leaders can change enough to be inclusive rather than exclusive and curb their determination to convert the world to their version of governance and lifestyle.

If anyone does not think that both Christianity and Islam doesn't share the goal of becoming a theocracy, then we have not researched those goals and are naive because we see our daily or weekly religious event's from a narrow point of view. It won't be the every day religious devotee that brings about a theocracy but their leaders. This is not conspiracy theory, it's fact.

You don't have to believe me, just look into things like the Values Voters Summit, just recently, and other events and websites that don't hide what they ultimately want. They don't have to hide it, few look at them other than those people involved in the politics of religion and those supporters interested in keeping up with the progress of that goal in their religion.

theocracy
1. a form of government in which God or a deity is recognized as the supreme civil ruler, the God's or deity's laws being interpreted by the ecclesiastical authorities.
2. a system of government by priests claiming a divine commission.
3. a commonwealth or state under such a form or system of government.

As a believer in Christ you can decree Job 22:28 that says you can decide on a matter and it will be established for you, and the light of God will shine upon your ways. You can speak that mother nature will arise on that day in DC and nothing that they do will prosper, it will fall apart, dissapate and broken up!

The One God of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam is the same God.

So praying for 'mother nature'(a pagan concept BTW) to rise up against fellow believers makes no sense to me.

I like this free floating forum but until things hit at home individually is when people wake up and make a stand that our
forefathers did not allow. Maybe we need statesmen not......

Freedom of Religion,, and Freedom To Assemble Peaceably,

What exactly are these people doing wrong?
Is it that they are praying in public, they are Muslims, that they might want Sharia Law in the United States????? Is it a protest? I hope so!!!!!

Nothing illegal here so far.

Doesn't even come close to violating the spirit of the law.
