Spider you got me curious.
Where does it say that gangs of men showed up to rape visitors in Sodom or Gommora? What does any of this have to do with the OP? wonderman What I told you is exactly what the word translates into for the time it was written. Prostitution. Because that word fornication means something else in our time does not take away from the fact of what it meant in the time it was written. You were there then. You talked to Paul and know exactally what he ment? Wow congratulations on how well preserved you are. |

kfloyd,
You don't have to defend yourself, what you were doing was clear. Please don't waste your time answering such accusations and mischaracterizations. If someone doesn't understand what you were doing, nothing you say will make them understand. Spiritual blindness is a really difficult thing to deal with. |

AdventureBegins,
Someone wrote this: "Given the current imorality in most cities in the world IF GOD WAS THAT DISPLEASED we would have been gone as a world a long time ago.", do you know who it was? I was responding to that person with my post about Soddom. If you want to know the story, read Genesis 19. |

THANK U SPIDERCMB, I ALREADY REALIZED THIS. PROVERBS 14:33 SAYS AND LET
ME QUOTE THIS CORRECTLY: WISDOM RESTETH IN THE HEART OF HIM THAT HATH UNDERSTANDING: BUT THAT WHICH IS IN THE MIDST OF FOOLS IS MADE KNOWN. WORD FOR WORD FROM THE BIBLE. |

Spider I pointed out a fact.
About FORNICATION; The origin of the word derives from Latin. The word fornix means "an archway" or "vault" (in Rome, prostitutes could be solicited there). More directly, fornicatio means "of the archway"; thus a euphemism for prostitution. This was the root of the word that has been translated that was the use of this word AT THE TIME PAUL WROTE THIS. Once again please show me where gangs of men showed up to rape visitors in the blasted cities you mentioned. That lady has no need to defend herself. I am not attacking her. I pointed out a thing I know about that particular verse. |

porneia (translated as Fornication in English in the 1300s)
-------------------------------------------------------------- 1) illicit sexual intercourse a) adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc. b) sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18 c) sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mk. 10:11,12 -------------------------------------------------------------- |

|
AdventureBegins,
Remember when I wrote "If you want to know the story, read Genesis 19."? Go there and read it for yourself, do I HAVE to quote it for you? I'll check the magic 8 ball. "Signs point to NO". |
|
|
|
Porniea was not the word used in the text of paul.
The word I quoted was from what I have researched the word originally translated from the original text. I fail to understand how you can say in one time 'accept and be saved' and then nit pick about what things save you not. |
|
|
|
I read it. Says a lot about imorality and various different things.
Says not a word about gangs of men raping visitors. Judging by the actions of Lots daughters after the destruction perhaps God should have left them in the city. |

HAVE TO GO!! GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!! HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A
WONDERFUL DAY!! LOVE IN CHRIST KF |

AdventureBegins,
Paul was speaking Greek. The epistle was written in Greek. The WORD he used was "porneia", I just looked it up. Quit arguing the point man, you are wrong. Accept it and move on. Fornication was first coined around 1300 AD...long after Paul died. |

AdventureBegins,
I'm going to show you, but you will continue saying it's not there. I know this, because I have spent enough time around you to know that you will NEVER admit you are wrong. Genesis 19:4-5 -------------------------------------------------------------- Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter; and they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them." -------------------------------------------------------------- "Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them". They weren't asking "Do they want to have sex with us?" They were saying "Send them out of the house, we ARE going to have sex with them." |

Genesis 19:4-8 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV) Public Domain [A Public Domain Bible] [KJV at Zondervan] [Zondervan] 4But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: 5And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. 6And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. 8Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. |

Spider you continual claim my wrongness. Yet you do not do your
research. Original latin fornix (root of Fornication) means prostitute and the latin derives from the word Pornia (prostitution) which derives from the hebrew word zanah (prostitution). ministries;Bible defininition before reformation 'It is possible that in the New Testament “porneia” is used to mean sexual relations between unmarried people - which is not the same as adultery - BUT “porneia” and the corresponding Hebrew “zanah,” with derivative forms, is most often used about prostitution.' |
|
|
|
AdventureBegins,
Look, I was trying to be nice. The ORIGINAL WASN'T LATIN, IT WASN'T HEBREW, IT WAS GREEK!!!!! It was Greek. I have already given the defintion for Porneia. Go here to see it in the ORGININAL GREEK with defintions. http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-bin/c.pl?book=1Cr&chapter=6&verse=18&version=KJV#18 I'm done. I'm out. |

Hey Spider aka "spidey"
How are you I see you're still doing your thing as usual. Nothing will change, there will always be some kind of debate. God bless everyone |

boredchick07,
I'm done with it. I can't talk to someone who claims that a 700 year old word was in a book written 2,000 years ago. I just don't get it and I never will. I'm doing pretty good. My ex just got taken to the hospital, she passed out at work. I'm wondering if I should leave work early to take care of her. |

Fornication is a term which refers to sexual intercourse between
consenting unmarried partners. Sex between unmarried persons is distinguished from adultery by use of the term 'simple fornication'. The origin of the word derives from Latin. The word fornix means "an archway" or "vault" (in Rome, prostitutes could be solicited there). More directly, fornicatio means "of the archway"; thus a euphemism for prostitution. Fornication is dealt with differently in various religions, societies and cultures. |

I applaude you for your post and keeping your cool. You
politely answer so many posts, it's incredible. Go take care of her and ask your boss if she can excuse that. Do you have any leave? LOL flower again Note: I'm putting these new smileys into work |
