I like the previous generation of "speed metal." Check out Yngwie Malmsteen's albums from the mid to late 80's and check out RacerX's albums. While you are at it, check out the guitar virtuousity of Yngwie and Paul Gilbert!

I'm an old head. I remember Carnivor , Nuclear Assualt , Testament . But Black Sabbath did in the 70 s for metal what the great new bands do now. Tear It up and shake the fuking walls down. And excellant pic of Blackie up there W.A.S.P. always gave you a good bang for your buck.

I would have to agree with you and i will have to add. Despised Icon Unearth Winds Of Plague 427 (local Washington) Cannibal Corpse Despised Icon is sick. I'm down with the classics too. Sabbath got me into playing guitar. Electric Funeral was the first song I learned. thank you I go waaaaaaaaay back - Deep Purple, Blue Cheer, Sabbath, Zep, Mott The Hoople, (and some of this was thru my high school boyfreind - a serious metal head)Alice Cooper, Metallica (some), Disturbed, Godsmack, Korn - now currently I am very much in love with White Pony. Listening to Saturday Night Wrist at the moment- just a lttle different road ^Deftones , that is Motorhead I like some - not so much a speedmetal person , so much |

Most of the stuff you guys have mentioned I am not big on..but I do like Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, and Blind Guardian. But then again, being a bit older than you, I am pretty sure my definition of ' metal ' is gonna be slightly different than yours. Well, going oldskool, Led Zepp, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Motorhead, Alice Cooper.... all good. I run the gamut from Iron Maiden to Slipknot to Stone Sour to Slayer to a few of the Power Metal bands....lol that's freakin awesome music, scorn the hater on the page! As I Lay Dying and All That Remains are my top 2 |

WASP was one of those metal bands that had a strong fan base, but because of the "negative" attention they got and the fact they just refused to make their music more commercial, they were never a HUGE band. But I always liked the fact that Blackie, Chris Holmes and the boys never strayed from who they were. They partied hard, rocked hard, and never made any excuses about it. Blackie will always be one of my favs as a frontman of a band. Dude delivered. |
