I have breastfed my baby since she was born, occasionally I did with formula. But, now I am taking my anti-anxiety pill and I can no longer breastfed. I gave her the bottle with formula and she won't take it, what do I do?

did your baby drink the formula well enough from the bottle when you supplemented before?
she's probably so used to your breast that a rubbery nipple doesn't taste very appetizing. maybe try switching the nipple on the bottle? there are some more naturally shaped like a woman's breast. might you even squeeze a bit of breast milk onto the bottle's nipple to get her interested? |

when she gets hungry enough she will Umm. I guess that's why she asked for input from "moms." I was going to tell her that babies are usually hungrier after a spanking. |

I gave her the bottle with formula and she won't take it, what do I do? Did you start the pills already? It would have been good to have pumped some milk into bottles before you did. That would encourage the baby to drink from the bottle more easily. Then you could eventually make the drink 1/2 mama and 1/2 formula and decrease until she gets used to the different flavor. The baby is used to having steak and now she doesn't want the hamburger. lol You're from St. Louis. There are places to call for advice. My mom used to work for HDC - Human Development Agency. They have the WIC program and there are lactation consultants to talk to at WIC. |

You don't spank BABIES! Especially for not eating....????? sheesh! I would call my pediatrician. Good luck! Women have absolutely no sense of humor when it comes to babies. I should have known better. I work with a bunch of women. Every once in awhile, one of them pops a baby out and then brings it into the office to eat cake, collect presents and pass the little bugger around. They always ask me if I want to see it, hold it, etc. I just tell them, every baby looks the same. That always goes over well. |

i would ask my doctor for medication that's safe to nurse with.
i would also check dr. sears's site for medicines that are not harmful to the baby (it's quite comprehensive) and be prepared to discuss those before calling my doctor. be well...hopefully you can get the relief you need and still be able to nurse your little one. i can't imagine the anxiety BOTH of you are feeling over a forced weaning. |

L,
Changing Nipples, medication, etc are all good ideas but the baby will take it when she is hungry so Quiet was right. You could also put a little formula on your finger and wet her lips with it. That will let her know it's formula and open up. Good luck. |

Appoligies, Lewis. That's O.K. Humor is just one of those things that doesn't always come thru when you send a message or an email. Not knowing me, you probably just assumed I was another internet weirdo. |

OR ask to speak with a Brestfeedin Peer Counselor If ur a WIC client the LC will actually do a home visit if needed. |
