Topic: Finally, the question we've all asked | |

at one time or another was answered today. "Where's a cop when you need one?"
I was driving home on the LIE going with the flow of traffic which was approximately 65 MPH or 10 MPH over the speed limit. I was in the center lane and the right and left lanes were relatively open in my general vicinity. Some pecker head in a Jeep was tailgating me so close that I thought he must be Greek. Anyway, I began to slow down to send out the message of get off my azz. He does a really quick lane change into the right lane cutting off someone else. What he did not know was that there was a highway patrol three cars behind in the center lane. Can you say BUSTED? I wonder how many tickets he got. I'm thinking at least three. |

We just got a case where a guy was harrassing a woman, ended up running her down and dragging her under his SUV for half a block. Luckily a police officer rode by and saw it just as it happened, or the woman would have died. As it is, she has skin grafts all over her body.

I count 4 tickets off the top of my head, that's if he didn't use a blinker before the abrupt lane change. Nope now that I think of it. Could be 5. Almost forgot reckless drivin.

Hmmm. Interesting turn of events here.

Can I just say something here? Havin been in law enforcement, the tailgater was in the bigger wrong here. OP was drivin in the center lane. The tailgater should've moved over to the left lane to pass him instead of bein up his butt. OP would get a speedin ticket at worst. Other driver, speedin, unsafe lane change, if no blinker then that would be, land change without use of signal, the tailgatin would get him a reckless drivin. In some states the tailgatin is a whole nuther charge from reckless drivin.

the 2009 driver's guide? Don't think that exists.
From the California Driver's Handbook (couldn't find New York) Under "Choosing a lane" "Drive in the lane with the smoothest flow of traffic. If you can choose among three lanes, pick the middle lane for the smoothest driving. To drive faster, pass, or turn left use the left lane. When you choose to drive slowly or enter or turn off the road, use the right lane." |
