My dad was one of those macho types and I was taught men don't cry, I was almost 30 yrs old and found it was ok to cry when something really hurts,
I had lost both my mother and my grandmother in that same year, plus the woman I was to marry broke up with me, then I lost an uncle to cancer I had been very close too, my girlfriend and I had been together for 7 yrs. Needless to say when I was younger I became angry a lot had been in to many fights to count, because I was always holding in my emotions, being Irish didn't help with my temper. It's ok to cry when something really hurts you, if you keep thing bottled in it can be like a pressure cooker and explode in anger, now when something really hurts me I am able to le i out, but it took a lot of years to learn this lesson, I think a lot of us men cry but won' admit o it in fear of being labeled weak. |

I raised three boys and they are all grown up now and know it's ok if they cry. Their not p*ssy's and whine azz's ...if they hurt they know they can cry, although I rarely see them do it.

Now, guys, don't go overboard on this crying thing. If you're at war and the enemy has a gun in your face...don't cry, okay? If you don't get to see the movie you want, don't cry.
But, like miko's experiences called for crying for sure. |

there is a difference between a guy crying under extreme duress and these SNAPs that wanna show their sensitivity by crying at everything
SNAPs = Sensitive New Age P*ssies |

Nothing wrong with crying. But, there is a time limit. If you are still crying about a broken heart after six months someone should kick your azz and tell you to get back in the game. No woman is worth that much suffering.

Interesting. I've had a few things happen recently that should have made me cry. I get close, but I don't actually make it to tears. That's without trying to hold back or anything. I, too, was brought up in a family where men didn't cry. Then again, there are a few songs that do that to me when I sing them. Just too much emotion. It kinda feels wrong to not be able to cry. Oh well. Maybe someday.

There's nothing wrong with crying. I don't know about it being a "pre-requisite"...it's actually really hard for me to cry. Getting kicked in the nuts and any physical pain I've experienced over the past few years have yet to make me tear up. I think at most I've had damp eyes over it.
Emotional pain is much more severe. My ex-girlfriend (of a 1.5 year relationship) and I just split up, she's made me cry twice. Once was I found out she'd cheated on me. We got past that. Then when we finally broke up this past weekend, I cried again. Girls truly are evil haha I hate seeing men cry makes me want to hug them or hold them I hate seeing women cry. Makes me actually hug them or something, and sometimes that has netted me trouble with the...er...reason they're crying. |
