Stanford is starting. I don't necessarily agree with that. It would make more sense if the team were better. I don't want to see the kid's psyche be destroyed. We'll see. The only reason Stafford has been named the starter is because of Culpepper's cut not being healed enough for him to start. |

Look, the team was 0-16 last year. They need all the support they can get. Jump on the bandwagon with me! Well, they certainly can't do any worse than last year..... |

If they wanted a better season they should have sweetin' the pot for Jay Cutler. Jay Culter would have done well there. In Chicago He is not going to have a good season throwing the football.

Cutler just has to be decent, which I think he will be, because their defense will keep them in every game.
The Lions just have too many problems. Peyton Manning would struggle there. |

Decent, Decent ....... Decent gets Chicago 8-8 and watching the playoffs on espn thats' what Decent gets you, living in Denver and being a broncos fan I've seen this too many times..... |

Last night, he was bad, and they barely lost to a very good team, because they were held in the game by their awesome defense. He has to play better than that if they are going to win. |

I've changed my tune about starting Stafford.
The kid looked good. Yeah, he made some rookie mistakes, but made some very good plays, as well. The team was going to suck, regardless who starts. At least this way if they can build a decent defense over the next couple years, Stafford will get some experience. It reminds me of when Peyton Manning was a rookie. What did they win? 2 or 3 games? It payed off, in the end. If I were a Lions fan, I would at least be a little optimistic. |

Yep. There are definitely reasons to be optimistic.
The secondary was absolutely terrible yesterday, but the offense played well considering that Stafford is basically getting thrown to the wolves. The thing is, unless he gets hurt, there is no way they should take him out of the starting job. That wouldn't do anything but screw up his confidence. I still believe Culpepper should have gotten the starting job at least till they won a game or two. |

...hmmm, maybe that is when and why the mayan calander ends |

The Tigers were absolutely terrible for a little over a decade. Then they made it to the World Series. The Lions have been absolutely terrible for quite a while. The Ford family isn't very good as far as being team owners...but at least it looks like they are making progress. If they could get the defense in shape, they would actually be a lot better. |

**** it, I'm calling it, this weekend. A win over the Viqueens.

Once again the Lions shoot themselves in the foot to lose a game.
What a shocker. Of course, it didn't help that on a 42 yard gain, the refs called a phantom chop block. Oh well. Not like Lions fans aren't used to this kind of thing. |

If only they had called the game at half-time.
O.K., I learned my lesson. Rookie QB, defense that can't play two halves. When will the streak end? |

what exactly do the Lions do with all those first round picks? Do they have scouts? The Lion's management needs to be dragged out into the street and shot. There are teams more deserving of a 19 game losing streak. I feel bad and a little pissed for the Lions. Whats the point in getting the first pick every year and then lose every year. Could you imagine if the Lions were a New York team?

Could you imagine if the Lions were a New York team? The majority of them have been busts. However...there are a few players ( not nearly enough of them ) that have been pretty good picks. Ernie Sims ( even though he's hurt right now ) Calvin Johnson ( an absolute beast ) Kevin Smith ( I think he was a first rounder. Maybe he was a second round pick ) Matt Stafford ( he's gonna be REALLY good.) If the Lions were a New York team....the Ford family ( especially Bill Sr ) would have been run out of town on a rail by now. Lions fans have been exceptionally loyal to a terrible team. They ( myself included ) finally got fed up last season and stopped buying tickets. The fans can actually SEE the effort they are putting into building a better team. The problem is that Millen left them with so many holes to fill that there was absolutely no way they could do a quick turnaround. Schwartz is a good coach. He just needs time to get some good draft picks in so he can get some defensive players. I think the offe3nse is ok. The defense is absolutely horrendous. Most of the guys they have in the secondary wouldn't be starters on just about any other team in the league. |
