Topic: advice about class b misdemeanor | |

here's what i'd do: call the police department where the warrant is issued from. ask for all the details: how much it's going to cost, all the fines and fees and whether or not you can take care of it without showing up. send them the fine. pay the fines FIRST...the warrant might take care of itself if the fine is paid, including the warrant fee. if not, they'll most likely OR you out if you've already paid the fine. paying the fines might make it so you don't have to appear in court. last, it might be a good idea to...be clean in texas. hmmm... If he's missed 2 court dates already, there's a whole other warrant out for non appearance, Lulu, sperate from the warrant for original charge. ![]() |

Speakin as a former deputy sheriff here in MS, a warrant never goes away, doesn't matter if it's a misdeamenor or a felony. U get pulled over anywhere even for the smallest thing, first thing the officer is goin to do is have ur license run. It's gonna be run thru their local databases an NCIC for any kind of warrants. U will be taken in an u will have to answer for it. Doesn't matter if it's a year from now or 10 yrs from now. I seen it time an again. People thinkin the warrant would go away. It's gonna follow u, no matter where u go. Best thing to do is face it, be apologetic in front of the judge an take whatever punishment handed to u. A misdemeanor offense will not follow u the rest of ur life, a warrant will. And for gosh sakes, dress appropriately when u go to court. That's the one thing a judge looks at when u first appear in front of them. Dress pants, dress shirt an a tie with dress shoes. Show up in a tshirt an jeans an ur in for trouble cause he's gonna see u as not takin things seriously. ![]() thanks, I will dress clean and be respectful |

be glad, in the 70's the max sentence in Texas for a half gram of marijuana was life in prison the failure to appear is a separate offense and is prolly more serious than the simple possesion. the cheap way is to plead guilty to everything, get your probation, pay your fines and get the hell out of dodge EDIT: next time you're in the center of the main drug smuggling corridor in the country, where a thousand people have been murdered in the cartel drug wars, with out of state license plates, and you have drugs in your car, be more careful what you do to attract attention |

I contacted the deputy and he said I have to physically appear and I a have $5000 bond which Id have to pay 20% of, reddbeans I have been told the worst thing you can do is not appear so time to go down there, I dont have money for fines, bail, Im just gonna do the time before my court date and explain my arrest and failure to appear to the judge |

I know with tickets (traffic) you can pay by phone even with a warrant...but with possession charges and 2 warrants...it might be different. I know about the tickets because I paid by phone a while back

The FTA is looked at worse than the lil ole misdemeanor. Look at this as a growin up experience. Ur learnin to take responsibilities for ur actions. It's a misdemenaor that's not gonna haunt u if u just take care of it. In truth the only real misdemenaors that haunt u forever are domestic violence charges. They can actually prevent u from gettin a job. ![]() |

If you do nothing else dress nicely and try to make it look like it's not the first time you've ever dressed nicely. By that I mean, make sure your shirt fits, tie is done right etc. Also, when you go to court get a mindset(hypnotize yourself) that what you did was wrong, uncalled for and that you will never behave that way again ![]() ![]() |

I called the bondsman, told them Im coming down there, they told me I have to pay the $180.00 in person and they will reinstate the court case, guess the warrant stays until Im seen by the judge, they also told me to go through them to avoid being booked, either way I wont have to wonder whats gonna happen anymore

If I remember correctly A bail bonds man doesn't care who co-signed, if u don't show up for court they're gonna take grannies house if they have to in order to recoup money lost to the court. They are in business to make money first an foremost. A bail bonds man is an insurance agent an we all know insurance agents are gonna get their money. ![]() |
