Silver Dollar sized? Shoot it! I don't have a gun, but if I had a shotgun, guess I could have shot it, I don't have any air conditioning, could use some on the warm nights. But, then in the winter would get chilly -- that's okay though, I have duct tape - duct tape fixes ANYTHING!!!! |

Normally leave them alone, especially "daddy long legs" -- but this was a huge sucker and chose to hang directly over the bed for a good hour, so had to deal with him. |

Catch her and put her in a mayonnaise jar....with a stick and a leaf....to recreate the environment she's used to.

If you happen to live in a South American country, it could be a juvenile "Brazilian Wandering Spider"...one of the most, if not THE most, deadly spider in the world!
If you decide to ignore it and go to sleep, it may drop onto your face, where a very painful bite would be delivered (they're very aggressive). Within minutes, your involuntary motor functions would freeze up (your breathing would be one of those...); you'd be in intense pain. Your bowels would let go...and this is how paramedics would find you. Nah, just ignore all the above... ...live and let live. |

Whew!! thank goodness I am in England, I can rest easy tonight knowing the 3 spiders over my bed are harmless. Strange, they haven't moved for over a week or so.............. |

I learned recently.. I scream exactly the same way when a GIANT flesh eating, saber-toothed spider is coming after me.. as when I find a piece of lint on my shoulder :P

Catch her and put her in a mayonnaise jar....with a stick and a leaf....to recreate the environment she's used to. *SNORT* Seriously, tho...do NOT smush/smash/clomp/annihilate her. TRUST ME on this one! Because if she is pregnant, more than likely...10,000,000 BABIES will rent space in your home, ok? She/he has the right to live...use the glass/paper...scoop and set free theory. Works like a charm. |

There seems to be one spider which is on the move; a female, and her egg sac has burst, releasing too many spideys into the dark shadows of your abode... |

Daddy Long Legs are not arachnids, but insects. Also they don't possess fangs like spiders to bite & are harmless. |

I grew up around these guys:
One kind of orb tends make large webs, tough enough to catch small birds in. Tough enough to catch a human in for a few, very irritating seconds. But that was in South Carolina, I live with the tarantulas now, and haven't had a problem with them. In fact, a red one is supposed to be worth about $500 at the local zoo. Spiders in general catch and eat bugs (or mice, in the case of tarantulas) that aren't beneficial, flies, roaches, etc. I'd rather have a "huge" wolf spider than a huge roach problem. |
