About 6 years ago I worked for a very exclusive psychiatric facility as a nurse. They offered group therapy for many things but one thing they offered was group therapy for sexual anorexia.
I asked what kind of group is this?? I was informed that people that are not having sex are denying themselves sex just like a anorexic denies themselves food. The purpose of the group was to help them get thru this with the goal that they would start to have sex on a regular basis.
I thought this was really crazy. There are some people that need psychiatic help with sexual issues but sexual anorexia!! They had many people convinced of their state of "sexual anorexia" and even some of the staff members attended these meeting.

I've worked in psychiatric facilities too. But...not with that kind of group. lol There's quite a few people like that out there though.

Hi Winx, yes I had worked in other psych facilities but I had never heard of this type of group. This was a very private and exclusive facility. The staff were all convinced this group was a good thing.
If you are not in a relationship I guess at all times and having sex than you were denying yourself sex for some conscious or unconscious
reason.

The facility is located in Tucson, AZ. They have a swimming pool, scenic pathways and lodges for the patients. They treat other problems than just sexual anorexia.
