I suspect though we had a different culture here, and age really wasn't a big factor...you guys have much heavier laws to do with age of consent, and age differences for what you deam minors...

Here a child can live independently from their parents at age 14 and 9 months...as long as that child is not classed at risk....living in a drug den, a brothel, a hotel, or an abusive household...abuse being exposed to the above...

I know this wasn't my answer but I can expand why my dating priorities have changed. I'm picking my brain for you!

When I was 18 and younger, older men turned me on because they "seemed" more mature and they challenged me. They were usually in college and had careers rather than jobs.

I've never wanted to settle down or have kids, so as I got older, I just wanted to have fun with guys my age with no other ambitions other than to pay bills, party, and travel (also to get a higher degree).

When I got into my 30s, everyone was breeding! AACK!! scared

I started dating younger guys because they weren't interested in settling -- settling down -- or having kids which was my vibe too.

As I said, this remains the same today. Guys my age have totally different priorites (ex's and kids); therefore, I date guys who are free, carefree, want to travel, and especially hit Hollywood and Vegas once a month. tongue2 Oh, and who understand school and my doctoral degree is important for me to finish.

if i agreed with you i would have hate mail and people asking me if i like the song "Plush" by Stone Temple Pilots..which i do...but alot of laws made here are cause of once liberals turning conservative..."i don't want my child to make the same mistakes i made"..although personally any girl under 21 is taboo in my eyes i couldn't even think about it..maybe make sick jokes but never could i do that.

I hear you.

I also know you are asking a question, and clarified you have no intention of dating a minor...flowerforyou

And I've read the ruffled feathers in threads on here enough to know how volatile the subject is...

Some of it is just a whole lot of stupid.slaphead

As an outside observor from a different culture...reading some of the responses on the more 'gritty' topics, has me cringing at times.

If everyone is so puritanical, and so law abiding, and so perfectly moralistic....why are so many single, and seemingly unable to meet people?

Surely the site would have only 16 members of the deviant type in total, if everyone was clearly and openly honest...they'd all have hooked up, with their seemingly good traits of tolerance, honesty and good morals.

(please note for those who have a predisposition to feather ruffling, this is a humourous perception from an outsider's view)scared

Never dated anyone already out of school until I was a senior and thats when I met my first husband.. He was 7 yrs older but my parents liked him a lot and he took me out of a horrible home life.. We were married 17 yrs and I divorced him...took nothing for myself...

Being 18 (at present) I can say that I have dated almost nothing but older men - really since I began dating. I've gone up into the 30's. But, I can also say that this was an anomaly as far as my social circle went. But 20 doesn't seem like too much of a stretch for most teenagers.
