quiet gives good advice in post #2 and i would add meet in a public place during day light hours or have a friend with you the first time you go to meet any one and everyone the first time at least

and be wary of going to your vehicle alone after dark in an isolated parking lot anytime but if meeting those you do not know yet especially

any one can put on an act of any kind for a short time

now have fun and good luck

there are happy couples that have meet on this site

and one of them are in this here lil ol thread

be well and may much good come to you and yours

and that's different than REAL how?huh  bigsmile

Good advice on this threaddrinker

Iffn their asking fer your number in the first email, be afraid, be very afraidscared

Iffn they don't have a pic, or know how to Instant Message, or don't own a web cam, there's probably a wife or g/f or BOTH!! be afraid, be very afraid

Personally, unles you want to "play" with my on the IM, phone, cam, the chances of me meeting you are nonexistantnoway noway

ummm yes and no

be careful and be discriminatory. get to know people really well before you meet them

there's lots of weirdos out there

Yup.

Plus i would also recommend demanding to see the person you are meeting on webcam as well so you know they are at least being honest about what they look like.

Agreed

not necessarily so

they may not want their picture stolen and used elswhere

this happens regularly there have been multiple threads giving examples of this

and

just because they have a picture it does not mean the picture is of them

and maybe they want to meet someone because of there personality
not because of the way they look

so your assumptions can be very misleading as i have none of the things you listed

including a picture

just one example

true, but if the relationship is at a point where you're ready to meet and the person hasn't shown a photo yet, my guard would definitely be up and i'd be thinking that they are either married and/or they have malicious intent.

Yes, and that is the "rub"

I would not "discount" someone initially BECAUSE of the things I mentioned.

However, online meeting, to me, and it is only MY opinion (felt I needed a disclaimer:wink: )is a series of "levels". And frankly, I don't want to waste my time, if I have "red flags".

I agree, pics can be stolen, altered or simply untrue. But I am willing to turn on the cam. I don't think its unreasonable to get what I give.

I'll go even further and admit I've been online for a while now and have done the "meet and greet" at Starbucks. Very few times because, it never turned out well. I have learned, its not just the "looks" but without dialogue, the personality's were what REALLY counted!

and maybe they want to meet because of there personality
not because of the way they look

Now that's my number one criteria:wink: happy

I'm hardly weird...maybe a bit different, but let's not call it weird. I like unique anyway...
