Would you try and decieve me
If I said I was smart,
How would you percieve me?
If I was unimaginable,
Could you still conceive me?
If I was an unreachable goal
How would you achieve me?
If I said I’m here for you,
Would you recieve me?
If I told you I loved you,
Would you then leave me?
If I told you I’m in pain,
Would you relieve me?

If I was a piano,
Would you sit down and play me?
If I was a dragon, and you a knight
Would you come slay me?
If I was a piece of art,
Would you display me?
If I was a someone famous,
Would you portray me?
If I gave you a loan,
Would you repay me?
If I told you I was running late
Would you delay me?
If I told you I was your master,
Would you obey me?
If I told you I was loyal,
Would you betray me?

If I never introduced myself,
Would you pretend you knew me?
If I am opaque,
Can you still see right through me?
If I was straight forward,
Would you still miscontrue me?
If I was far away,
Would you still come to me?
If I ran away,
Would you pursue me?
If I was out of control,
Could you subdue me?
If I was tied up in knots,

Well thank you, Jess. I do appreciate the compliments and thought you put into your reply, but your posting like that could stand to get me into a lot of trouble. I don't really know you outside of your posts and we've never talked in private, so I don't really understand any basis of your reply or expression of love for me, especially considering that on your profile that you are "partnered". I'm pretty sure that you meant nothing serious by your reply, but it still could cause problems for me.

Again, I do appreciate the thought, but it states very clearly in my profile and in some other places that I am happily taken by another woman here that I love dearly. This poem, or any of the statements within, were not directed to, and had nothing to with anyone here or in my real life. And they were not meant to attract that kind of attention. I'm glad that they did envoke these thoughts and responses and I really do appreciate the compliments and replies from everyone. But please understand that I do not want the 'I love you' kind of attention from anyone other than the one who means the world to me.

That's kinda what I was figuring, not that you were diggin' on me for some crazy reason, but that is was no more than a general response to each line of, like you said, a generalized poem, not even really entirely about love. And good responses they were. You did not make me feel uncomfortable. I do like the response you provided, just do not wish for it to be misinterpreted. I'm glad we're on the same page here, hope I did not offend you or make myself look stupid, and wish the best for all of us.
