What, if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: "This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more"Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse the demon who spoke thus?Or have you once experienced a tremendous moment when you would have answered him: "You are a god and never have I heard anything more divine" What if your answer was somewhere in the middle?? Like " Well...ok then " Well..think about it. That demon came to you during your loneliest of lonely times, but the demon doesn't specify that this is how you are going to feel for the entirety of this and your next lives. I see no reason to ' gnash my teeth and curse the demon ' nor would I see reason to consider it a God. If the life you are living now is the one that you would have to live innumerable times, then it's really not that big a deal because you are used to dealing with what you have lived through. Now if the Demon said that you next lives would be 1000 times better or worse...then the reaction would probably be completely different. I think its the idea that you suffer again and again and again No eternal reward. No heaven Just life that you have to struggle thru again and again and again |

It is progress and on the meantime you aren't only gaining experience but you move forward. Whatever that seems to a struggle is actually the way to break through. It's only a question of whether or not you find your way to fulfill your destiny and your purpose. |

The Four Noble Truths: that suffering is an inherent part of existence; that the origin of suffering is ignorance and the main symptoms of that ignorance are attachment and craving; that attachment and craving can be ceased; and that following the Noble Eightfold Path will lead to the cessation of attachment and craving and therefore suffering.
The Noble Eightfold Path: right understanding, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. Dependent origination: that any phenomenon 'exists' only because of the ‘existence’ of other phenomena in a complex web of cause and effect covering time past, present and future. Because all things are thus conditioned and transient (anicca), they have no real independent identity (anatta). Rejection of the infallibility of accepted scripture: Teachings should not be accepted unless they are borne out by our experience and are praised by the wise. See the Kalama Sutta for details. Anicca (Sanskrit: anitya): That all things are impermanent. Dukkha (Sanskrit: duḥkha): That all beings suffer from all situations due to unclear mind. Anatta (Sanskrit: anātman): That the perception of a constant "self" is an illusion. |

Therefore, the suffering wouldn't be as bad as might originally be though. Gotta love circular logic. :-) |

Just having a bit of fun with you....lol You actually hit the nail on the head with the circular logic statement. Nietchze was talking about the concept of eternal return |

Well.I wasn't actually looking at it that deeply.
But maybe I should have been. It just seemed like a circular thing to me because there were no specifics. Oh, well. YAY ME!!!! |

I just don't want to come back as a spider and have to live with a bunch of other spiderlings and then on my first venture out get stomped to death by a slipper or sprayed with hair spray.

Someone say Reincarnation? |

I like how everyone has an idea of what reincarnation may or may not be.
For me, there is no beginning and end...only transition...energy vibrating at different levels...this current vibration is in the form of being human. |
