So who is enjoying/has enjoyed this series? And if you aren't finished with it yet how far are you into it?

I am only on the third book, but I absolutely love it. Finished the first one in a few hours. A friend is actually the one who got me into the series, they said it's the best they've ever read.

I loved it up until the book "Wizard and the Glass", where it goes into Roland's past. Its basically a romance book and the whole series went to hell after that sick Just IMO tho I know others who loved the whole series anyway.

Really? I haven't gotten to that book yet. I really hope I don't grow to hate it then. :/

That's the book I'm reading right now..although I am only a few pages into it. I've heard from multiple people that it's the best book in the series though. I should be more excited to read it than I am.

I'm kinda worried about the rest of the series now. <.<

Has anyone heard of The Dark Tower movie that is coming out? Apparently the people that made "Lost" are supposed to direct it?

It's a very good series.

You just have to be able to accept the story. Even the flaws.

If you can do that, you'll love the rest of the series.

I actually named my son Jake if that says anything!

I love the guy. He's a genius for his genre. I have a hard cover collection of most of his books. I loved the series and vividly recall near panic when I learned of his accident in the midst of it. My first thought was "But what about Roland and the quest? He CANNOT die yet!" Not every book he wrote is great but these ones sure kept me rapt.bigsmile

i loved the series. some of what he wrote was pretty trippy and at times hard to grasp. the writing time spanned...two decades(?) life imitates art. some parts are darker and more twisted. his writing style and subtle changes within the series reflects what was happening to him. my least favorite book of his is the girl who loved tom gordon. he wrote that while he was recuperating. that novel was just disturbing and bland at the same time.

Loved it! I thought there could have been less books but overall an enjoyable read, even with never having read any of his other books. I could have screamed at the end though. Lol!

Correct. Many, many of his books all tie in with the actual series, either directly or indirectly, in some way, or at least make references to it. Any true King fan will recognize the subtle (and sometimes, not so subtle) references in any given book of his. I believe the actual beginning of the series starts with "Eyes Of The Dragon."

I love the series. My personal favorites in the series are books 2 and 3. I'm one of those that was reading the series as the books came out which got frustrating since some of them had a few years in between.
And now I've been collecting the Dark Tower comics series.

I enjoy Wizard and Glass quite a lot, it was a nice look into Roland's past that helped understand who he was a little more.

I do enjoy how King ties in all of his books, whether into the Dark Tower series, or between his other books.

If you watch the film "The Mist", the painting Thomas Jane is working on is for The Dark Tower.

Not all of his books tie into the series. A large portion of them do, but not all. The Dark Tower was and still is his lifes work. He is one of the truest masters of american lit that i have ever read. He is one of the rare writers that can catch your attention and make you crave more and more. Roland is a darker version of himself. and FYI,, the Wolves of the Calla was a great book. as was Song Of Susannah. the ending threw me, but to me it was a great book.

I read the first one when it came out, then waited years for the next and years for the next and so on and so on...was it worth the time I waited? Get back to me when you're done!
