Italy wants america to extradite officers and cia agents back to italy
to stand trial for humn rights violations including torture weapons used in a secret and lied about hidden facility...which the US denied existed but now has to face the music...the EU is pushing for this extradition and does not support the US's violation of human rights in their tactics for winning the war on terror they have initiated... what happens to a human being when he is turned into a weapon? for torture? who is tried? and who serves the term.... |

The ones who are responsible will get away with murder, while some
scapegoat does jail time, like always. |

I've witnessed the unrolling of several major scandals here in
Washington, including Watergate. The thriller question seems always to be: how high will it go? The prosecutors try to nail the leaders who are responsible; the leaders try to get their subordinates to take the blame. The Scooter Libby affair is a classic example. Clearly VP Cheney was behind Libby's deceptions, yet he takes the blame, goes to jail for a while, and emerges the darling of the neocons, with Cheney forever in his debt. The Abu Ghraib torture scandal is the same: the grunts are targetted, though it is clear they were doing what they thought they had been told to do my Army and CIA interrogators. Perhaps the most disappointing thing about what we now know of Abu Ghraib is that US Army medics stood by while the torture was being carried out. Washington was quick to 'control' the Abu Ghraib scandal, by suggesting that is was only a matter of a few 'bad apples.' The reality that the procedures for torture came out of the DoD itself -- with pres Bush signing off, and the VP Cheney pushing for even more sadistic techniques -- is conveniently ignored. Oceans |

Yahoo News:
Cells, sometimes equipped with video cameras, were cramped and kept extremely hot or cold, the report said. Prisoners had to listen to irritating noises, including "torture music," rock or rap as well as "distorted" verses of the Quran, it said. Bush acknowledged the existence of a secret detention program last September, when he announced the CIA had moved Sheikh Mohammed and 13 other suspected terrorists to the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay. Marty's report said Poland and Romania hosted secret prisons under a special post-Sept. 11 CIA program to "kill, capture and detain" key terrorist suspects. It said the jails grew out of a secret pact within NATO shortly after the terror attacks on the U.S. The pact "allowed the CIA to be able to move around Europe unobstructed, without undergoing any control and, especially, the NATO (security) protocol on secrecy was applied," Marty said. In Italy, the first trial stemming from the CIA's detention program opened Friday without the presence of any of the 26 Americans charged with the 2003 kidnapping of a Muslim cleric suspected of terrorist ties. The trial has irritated U.S.-Italian relations and its opening coincided with Bush's arrival in Rome. Torture? Yeah, it looks like they had a hard go at it. Perhaps we should give terrorists the book: "Evil American Torture Practices, and More". I think they would like it much better than the same old beat them to within an inch of their life, wake them up with a gentle 220 volt shock to the genitals so they are conscious when you chop their head off and throw their body in the street, kind of torture. After all, they are nothing but Americans. Doesn't matter if they have done anything wrong as it is simply that they are Americans. Everyone, read the ENTIRE story, not supporting snippets, and you will find that Italy, as usual, has done one thing and said another only to reverse it. What a shocker eh? My personal opinion on what the agents did? Don't have one yet Should they be extradited? Nope. What makes us more special? Why is it always America? I need to start scouring world news to see what can pe pointed out of other countries! Anyone bring up the fact that the Turks are amassing troops on the Iraqi border yet? The want to root out a faction in the Kurdish community which they are calling terrorists. Maybe they should just try and understand them eh? |

Weapons...humans as weapons...what about elected leaders over-ruling the
only stops and checks put in place, Congress, to keep him in check? Re-instating Marshall Law? Sending an extra 35 000 more troops to one war, who knows how many more to another, pointing missiles here, pointing missiles there... Does that make him a weapon, a potential weapon of mass destruction? |
